Ok guys... talking about my .45ACP S/A Loaded 5" 1911-A1

I bought 3 McCormick Shooting Star 8rd mags (2 blued, 1 S/S), and 1 Colt mag (S/S 7rd) on the internet (I already have 3 Colt mags that work fine... so I figured I'd add to the collection).

All of my Colt mags work perfectly, the 2 blued McCormicks work, but the Stainless McCormick does not engage the slide stop when its empty. All of my other mags and the 2 other McCormick mags do this just fine, but this one does not.

Is there any way that I can fix this mag? Tried to return it for another one but the seller will not respond to my PM's so I figure that I'm stuck with it....

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Cliff notes:
8rd Stainless Steel McCormick Shooting Star mag does not engage slide stop when mag is empty. What do I do...

Stick to 7rd mags, and your problem will likely vanish. If you still have your "Loaded Coupon", the orange sheet of paper that came with your pistol, I recommend you use it to order a bunch of the 7rd mags (the Loaded Coupon will allow you to buy up to 10 at a very low cost - I think $9 or $10 per mag). These mags are made by Metalform (I think they make Colt's 7rd mags), and, while they're not as glamorous as some of the shiny 8rd mags, they work beautifully. I have 15 of them, which I purchased directly from Metalform. I strore them fully loaded all the time, and use them all fairly often, so that they are constantly being loaded and unloaded, yet they continue perform all their duties religiously.

As far as fixing your Shooting Star mags, you might try these spring/follower replacements: http://www.trippresearch.com/products/upgrade/upgrade.htm

Yea... but I already baught the mags...

Im only having problems with one... do you think that changing out the spring/follower will fix it?

I did not buy a new loaded model... got it used... so I don't have the coupon. You thinking about selling any? I need about 3-4 more...

Swap the follower and spring with one that works from the 8 rounders. If the mag works, it is either a follower or spring problem. If not check the inside of the mag and back edge of the mag for rought spots causing a blockage of the follower moving all the way up to engage the slide stop.

Hope this helps.
