Makarov. Great little gun. What about the sights?

I was shooting one of these three months ago in South America, where 380 callibre is the norm for automatics.

I've always liked the gun: solid, handsome, uncomplicated, pretty accurate and cheap. But what about those sights?

Is there anything that can be done with them? The rear sight can be removed and replaced, I suppose, with some sort of custom part, but what about the foresight? Is there anything that can be done to lengthen the blade?

You can order the "Colt .380" sights from Novaks. They fit on the Maks personally. Then you just have to find a gunsmith to install them. I had a machinest buddy who does his own hobby smith work do mine. (No, he doesn't take commissions though. It was a favor).

The Novaks work pretty well and look like they were made for the gun. I bought mine from either Brownell's or Midway, can't remember which as I get a lot of stuff from both places.
