Getting a ready made desert tan holster for a Steyr M9 is basically impossible. I stumbled upon a great site call Knifekits.com. Those guys have everything you need to make custom holsters and sheaths. I ordered a few sheets of Kydex, rivets, chicago screws and a paddle holster kit. Even though I was going to tackle the project on my own I coincidentally met a guy who already made a few Kydex holsters and told me to just come over and make one together. Lucky for me, because it took 2 hours and the guy has a fully outfitted workshop. Specifically you really want a grinder, belt sander, bandsaw. And a heat gun, and a rivet press...and...you understand what I am talking about.
Here is the result. Paddle not mounted as I will spray paint it tan like the Kydex. What I particularly like is that we did not overdo the impression of the gun. Some guys on youtube like the Kydex to be almost like a duplicate of the gun. I wiped the inside with a silicone cloth and the result is awesome. Good retention while having a smooth effortless draw. Could not be happier.
PS Reason for the tan holster is that in another project I will be DuraCoating the slide of my Steyr in Coyote brown or similar.
