Man shot 6 times calls it an accident

NEW ORLEANS:

Police are investigating a shooting in which a 38-year-old man told detectives he was shot six times by accident Friday morning in eastern New Orleans, police said. Detectives have serious doubts about the man's account, police said.

The man told officers the shooting occurred in the 4300 block of Dale Street, police said. Officers found a parked car there with windows that had been shattered by bullets, officers said.

Wounded six times, including once each in the neck, chest and arm, the man walked into the emergency room at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital about 5 a.m., police and a hospital official said.

The man's wounds didn't appear to be life-threatening when he was transferred in stable condition to Charity Hospital about 11:15 a.m., Methodist Hospital spokesman Leif Pedersen said. His condition Friday night was not available.

Police said they don't know who took him to the hospital, and they withheld details of the man's account.

Nope, it was a .38 or better....

'cause somewhere around '75 or so, I was told by a Providence, RI city cop that the worst to be hit by was a .22. Something about not knowing where the bullet would go...

Me, I prefer a .38 or better since I feel I know exactly where the round will go!

But then, I'm not a cop, so...

I prefer a paintball myself. Only when I am wearing face mask with nect protection and insulated coveralls with gloves and cup. :)

I survived at least a hundred.....

intentional shootings with a bb gun when I was a kid, none in the eye.......chris3

Maybe a part snapped in his Davis .380 and it went full auto in his pocket......

I think "jsalcedo" has the best explanation.....;) It works for me...

Yeah, this was an accident, and those strange birds flying around his head as he walked into the emergency room really were flying pigs... :banghead:

I'd hate to be so jaded as to not believe this poor man's story. After all, wasn't it the official government position that Allende committed suicide in Chili in the 70's by shooting himself with a SMG some 25 times, reloading once in the process?

Could be an accident folks... remember the Uzi/stairs scene in True Lies? :D Jamie Lee Curtis dropped the Uzi on the stairs and it repeatedly fired as it tumbled end over end down the stairs... It could happen!?!:what:

Hmm... my dad was issued the Uzi when he was in the army and he'd always tell me stories about how unreliable the thing was, and how it would occasionally go off when banged hard enough against something solid.

But six hits on himself???

Trooper

back when guns were not a forbidden four letter word on the news an austin, texas , reporter closed out the 10:00 pm news one night with the breaking news of a lucky/stupid drug dealer who was reportedly shot 6 times across the front seat of a '65 chevy pickup truck with a 44 mag. and not fatally wounded. the reporter commented to the weatherman how the drug dealer was the luckiest guy in travis county because his,the reporter's, 44 would have certainly mortally wounded the guy. the weatherman commented that both people in the car were most certainly suffering from flash blindness and hearing damage. i don't think we'd hear that exchange on the evening news anymore.....and that is very sad.

The officer: Whey only six bullet wounds? Idiot: cause thats all the bullets I had. :what:
