Man shot 6 times calls it an accident
NEW ORLEANS:
Police are investigating a shooting in which a 38-year-old man told detectives he was shot six times by accident Friday morning in eastern New Orleans, police said. Detectives have serious doubts about the man's account, police said.
The man told officers the shooting occurred in the 4300 block of Dale Street, police said. Officers found a parked car there with windows that had been shattered by bullets, officers said.
Wounded six times, including once each in the neck, chest and arm, the man walked into the emergency room at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital about 5 a.m., police and a hospital official said.
The man's wounds didn't appear to be life-threatening when he was transferred in stable condition to Charity Hospital about 11:15 a.m., Methodist Hospital spokesman Leif Pedersen said. His condition Friday night was not available.
Police said they don't know who took him to the hospital, and they withheld details of the man's account.
