Went and shot a couple of hundred rounds thru my 1 week old s/a loaded today and noticed on the slide at the ejection port that there are some marks that appear to have been made by the empty brass. Is this normal? The more I look at it the less I'm impressed w/the fit of some componets, but it shoots great and has been 100% reliable.

Yes as you guessed it is brass marking your slide. If your pistol dosen't look right send it to me i'll give it a new home :D :D

You're lucky. I usually notice the brass marks on my forehead. When a 1911 ejects the case it actually flips end over end as it comes out, and it often hits the slide as it does its tumbling routine. On some guns the case is flipped back into the shooter's face instead of off to the side.

Brass Monkies on the Slide

Bingo! dsk nailed it.

KR...I'll be home all day after about 10 tomorrow in the A.M. if you wanna take a day off and bring the gun up here. Gotta go take a few 100-pound propane bottles to get'em filled in anticipation of the Arctic blast headed our way. Let me know and I'll give ya the directions.

Standin' by...
