I just ordered a Marlin 1894ss lever action rifle. It is a stainless 44 mag. What size groups should I expect at 50 and 100 yards?

I have a 1894C in 357 and with iron sights I stink, but with my Marble's tang sight I get around 2 to 3 inches at 50 and 3 to 4 inches at 100. I would expect much better if I had a scope on it, but a lever gun just does not deserve a scope.....

I've only seen one lever action jam in my life time, and it was a Puma. Dont worry about jamming, if anything you should be able to clear and if you have too...feeding singles isnt hard.

I have experienced the infamous "Marlin Jam" and it is a show stopper if you don't have a screwdriver with you. However, mine occured when I was using .44 specials. Do not baby the action- Crank it quickly, and soundly- that's how it's meant to work.

Erk, yeah I know bout the swift crank. I've had stumbles but never a real jam. If you just work the action real gentle you aint gonna do a whole lot've good. Throw that lever down and jerk it back up. Its not as abrupt and uncomfortable as it sounds, its very comfortable.

I didn't know that Marlins had a jamming problem, but I attest to mine coming home with a severe case of it.
My 1894 locked up tight while trying to feed from the tube using both Magtech and Winchester. I had to send it back to Marlin, who replaced the elevator. The rifle works fine now, but I have yet to try .44 specials.
