I took my marlin 336 SS hunting today. We hiked deep into the Sawtooth mountains in Idaho. Hit the trail around 5:30 am am came out around 4:30 pm. The ammo was a 173 grain Beartooth bullet WFNGC with 30 grains of IMR 4064 in a nickel case. What a beautiful day!

Congratulations! Nice buck!

I am taking my unscoped 336 SS this Saturday hoping to be as fortunate as you.

Bp.....I opted for my scoped 336 instead do my 1949 peep sighted model at the last second when leaving my truck. I rang my 12" gong with the peep sight at 200 yards but in the field, it's different with the shadows and unknown distances. At the range, the light is always bright and the distance is known. Have fun out their with your marlin.
