I've been struggling for a while with my Marlin 60 and its failures to feed. I bought the gun in a pawn shop a year ago. It was rusty on the outside and looked like it hadn't been shot on the inside. I've since put some 6,000-8,000 rounds through it. The vast majority of those were its favorite Remington Golden Bullets. Accurate and reliable.
The last month or two, though, it's been jamming with increasing regularity. The cartridge jams nose up on the feed ramp with an indentation in the case from the bolt slamming into its side. I figured the lifter spring was weak and not lifting the cartridge fast enough in front of the bolt. I replaced the spring. No joy. I thought that maybe the crud build-up that I neglected during my regular brake cleaner wash-down was slowing the bolt. That would prevent the bolt from getting all the way behind the cartridge and force the cartridge up the feed ramp by friction. Then, I thought, it would hang up because the bolt wasn't all the way behind it. I cleaned the action to perfection. The bolt does seem to move faster now. Now instead of denting the case, it punctures it. :banghead:I stuck some Federal bulk ammo in it last week and it was marginally better, but not perfect.
Have you seen this? How do I fix it?
