I want to know what is the maximum distance I can mount my BUIS and how for apart is too far where they are no longer effective. I built a new upper with a 13.8" handguard on it. I know the longer the sight radius the better but it seems the front post is might small way out at the end of the rail(about 19'' between rear aperture and front sight post). Thanks guys!

Max it out, unless you are mounting something like a SF X300 weaponlight at the 12 o'clock, in front of your front sight.

Have you tried shooting it yet?

No, not yet. Still need a few small parts and pieces installed before I take her to the range. I was thinking about just trying it out, but wanted to get some ideas and opinions so I spend minimal time messing around and the range and more time shooting. It's going to be a clean upper minus the Leupold MR/T that is going on top after the BUIS get sighted in.

Max. distance is when you can't see it anymore.

The further it is away, the smaller it is...the smaller it is, the more precise you'll be.

Don't worry, the target will look really small, too! :neener:

The M1 Garand has a 28" sight radius. Go shoot the rifle, I think you'll find it works fine.

Bingo.

Check out the sights on the Olympic target rifles (the Olympic Games, not the brand). Front sight is as far out as it can go, rear sight as far back as it can go.
