Media Undefined Terms- Illegal Guns

Maine and Washington aren't outliers. They have some of the higher gun ownership rates of the Northern states, and low violent crime. If that stuff passes there, it will pass easily in a number of other states.

But I don't know of any gun control laws that have been taken off the books except the handgun bans in Chicago and DC. '68 GCA, '89 Import Ban, '91 build ban, '86 machinegun ban are still in full force. New licensing requirements on gunsmiths, new restrictions on gunpowder. Is it a victory that I can now pay the state for a license to 'bear arms' concealed?

So what polls are you talking about?
Ohio's magazine ban and ban on carry in liquor establishments have been repealed. We're working on repealing mandatory notification when carrying.

National polls are showing DECREASING support for new gun controls.

Would you please post the polls you're talking about?
Gun Control Polls
And of course, most support for so-called "universal background checks" is rooted in deceit. They REQUIRE REGISTRATION to be at all meaningful. Strangely the liars who hawk them NEVER tell you THAT.

But again, if there were 85% majorities in favor of slavery, I still wouldn't pick cotton for free.

That's good news. Thanks for posting it!

My original point is that we never do much better than the status quo. We are nowhere near getting anything big repealed, just banning things at a slower rate.

Apart from the political puffery of the media's language, Chicago citizens have had many of their 2nd amendment rights restored over the last several years. Many of the usual suspects in the media clearly despise this fact and want to bend the discussion their way through the promotion of language with political agendas and in which human actors are not the agents of violence as much as guns are solely to blame.

The first big mover of Chicago gun control was Richard J. Daley... who helped instigate the 1919 race riot.

Another big mover of Chicago gun control was Richard M. Daley... who as Cook County State's Attorney gave the wink and the nod to racially targeted TORTURE by the Chicago PD.

Scratch an anti-gunner find a racist.

Very much like the war on drugs.

Many minorities are anti-gun, because of the violence in their neighborhoods. Whom are they racist against?

If a 15 year old shoots someone is South Chicago, chances are that they are neither a felon nor possessing a weapon that was legally purchased.

Pretty sure that if a 15 y/o buys a gun, a felony has occurred.

Subsequent possession withing Chicagoland's limits is probably illegal, too, if only by City of Chicago law.

The term "illegal guns" is sheep's clothing, meant to reassure Fudds that their legal arms are not the target. Not yet.

You missed the context. Tirod said:
The failure point is that these guns are largely stolen and being sold on the street to felons who would be restricted from buying them anyway.

Tirod and I were speaking about criminals convicted of a felony.

And since this is a thread about what words mean and using them correctly, the definition of "felon" is someone who has been convicted, so someone who has committed a felony is not a felon until they have been convicted.

There were Jews who rounded up other Jews for "resettlement to the east " too.

Black Chicagoans elected and reelected Richard M. Daley for 20+ years, despite his relationship to the ORGANIZED TORTURE RING operating inside the Chicago.
