"Michael Moore, the anti-gun film maker who recently won an Academy Award for his film Bowling for Columbine, is now the target of an online effort that seeks to have his Oscar® revoked. RevoketheOscar.com includes information on how to contact the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which awarded the prize, and offers guidance on how to effectively communicate the message that Moore`s award should be rescinded. The general argument that Moore`s movie should never have been nominated, much less given the award, because it doesn`t qualify as a documentary under the Academy`s own rules is supported both on the site, and via links to numerous articles about Moore`s movie. For more details, click here."

If they will give a child-molester an Academy Award, why not this nutbag?

Who cares about Hollyweird? The most leftish bunch of hypocrites the world has ever seen.

Because it could encourage future Moore-ons.

And because I'd love to see lil Mikey blubbering about how they took his statue away.

Roman Polanski is a child rapist.

Hollywood will forgive any criminal regardless if said person
is an artist or a leftist or lives in Paris.

As For Mickey Moore, his politics have nothing to do with the argument to take away his oscar

The organizers of the petition are banking on the fact that his film was not a documentary.

Regarding Roman Polanski, I just have to ask:
What does the fact that he committed a terrible crime have to do with whether or not his movie was the best one made last year? Should all awards be doled out not based on the merit of a given achievement but solely on whether the achiever has flawless character?

How many of you who are so upset about Polanski own an M1 Carbine?

yes as a matter of fact I do believe that immoral character should disqualify a person from receiving an award of that nature. What makes anyone think that by pretending to disconnect on part of a person's character from the others one is accomplishing anything other than self-delusion?

Moral character has traditionally been linked to awards, merits and acolades.

If Charles Manson wrote his memoirs in a popular and captivating manner would he get a pulitzer?

Rewarding and acknowledging fugitive rapists send the wrong message.

Polanskies movies should be banned until he comes back to the US and takes his punishment.

Now whats this about M1 carbines?

If justice had been served,..

Polanski would be in prison and unable to direct a movie.

Criminal psychologists will tell you that sex offenders, especially child molesters, have a very high recidivism rate. I seriously doubt if Polanski has put away his wicked ways.

The M1 Carbine was designed in prison by a convicted murderer. Help me out with the specifics, please.

Here's a way of doing this and a link for a campaign dedicated to this effort. One of the rules of the academy is that in order to be eligable for an award a documentary film must be based in fact There are many instances throughout Bowling for Columbine where Moore presented complete fiction as fact. This can be easily proven. The goal of this effort is to push for the academy to investigate Moores facts resulting in a disqualification for his oscar award using the academies own rules to do this. If you don't believe that this can be accomplished check out these other awards that have been revoked. Milli Vanilli's Grammy award was revoked in 1990 when it was discovered that they had lip synched their album. That they weren't really singing on their recording creating a fraud. In 2001 the prestigeous Bancroft prize awarded to author Michael Bellesiles for his book Arming America was revoked when it was discovered that his historical research into firearms in early America was fraudulent. The same can be done with Moores work and I believe that it can be done. We all know that the academy are a bunch of liberals with similar politics to Moore's but here is the kicker. According to their own rules a documentary must be factual. To allow Moore work of fiction to pass as a factual documentary would mean that they would have to allow all other entries who have taken "Artistic license" with the facts to enter their films under the documentary category. This would also create a great deal of friction among the folks who have created fact based documentaries under the rules and were not awarded prizes while a work of fiction won the oscar. I don't believe that the academy wants to open that can of worms and that they will launch an investigation of Bowling For Columbine if they recieve sufficient prodding to do so. Here is a link to a tool kit for getting Moores oscar revoked.http://www.revoketheoscar.com/
Follow the directions and be carefull to leave politics out of your responses to them. Our goal is to get them to investigate Moores work for fraud, not political bias.

Even if the recall is successful, Moore will use it to propel his name further in the limelight. What we need is "dirt" in the classic sense. Moore and a teenage (under 18) girl or better yet, a critter. Moore on drugs. Moore in an alcoholic rehab center. Moore on the path to Geraldo with skinheads whacking him with chairs. :D Basically, he needs to be discredited like Bellesiles. Everyone will then shun him and his books will be quietly thrown into the trash.

What does the fact that he committed a terrible crime have to do with whether or not his movie was the best one made last year?

Oh, I don't know, Justin, maybe the fact that he should be in jail for raping a little girl.

I also agree with the others; moral character should have a lot to do with winning an award of this magnitude (even if I don't give a rats patootie)

But I guess he is innocent until proven guilty, right? That's probably why he's hiding in Europe. He can't be guilty unless they catch him, unless he's been convicted in absentia. I don't know all of the specifics, but I do know that I will not watch anything he does. He needs to come back home and take his medicine like a man. I honestly couldn't tell you the name of any of his movies, I simply don't care. Same for Moore.

I think Carbine Williams supposedly invented the M-1 Carbine in prison. I also may be wrong but I think Polanski was convicted but skipped before the sentencing phase. Or I may have it all wrong. heard the one about Fatty Arbuckle?

Carbine Williams did his time; let Polanski do his. He can direct reality tv shows from prison. Maybe a spin-off of Oz called Oz Francais.

If you want to hurt Moore, audit his books. No way a film like that should cost $3 million.

Instead of Best Documentary, Bowling for Columbine should have received some sort of special Bellesiles Award for best give-the-commies-what-they-want-to-hear,-truth-not-required film.

Who better to devise effective means of killing people?
LMBFAO!!! :D :D :D

Since you are at least old enough to operate a computer, and you have to ask, nothing that I could ever tell you will help.

Maybe you will understand someday, maybe you won't.

For what it is worth, my money is on the latter. :scrutiny: :uhoh: :barf:

I just have to ask:What does the fact that he committed a terrible crime have to do with whether or not his movie was the best one made last year?

My problem with Polanski is that he can make a movie that may or may not be the best one of the year. He is a fugitive from justice. Until he comes to the US and is either convicted or found innocent, he shouldn't be making money by directing movies. Unfortunately, he fits perfectly into the movie industry because most of them have the same beliefs he does.

For the facts on the Polanski debacle, go here.

While the news accounts start out as if he poured the champagne down her throat with a funnel and drugged her against her will, later reports state:
Polanski had contracted to photograph the girl for a French fashion magazine. Prosecutors said he took her to the home of actor Jack Nicholson while Nicholson was away, fed her champagne and Quaaludes, then committed numerous sex acts with her.

The probation report indicated that she consented. The judge said it made no difference.
-- The Washington Post, September 20, 1977

In the fine nuances of the law, her consenting places the act under the auspices of "statutory rape" rather than rape.

http://www.ageofconsent.com/comments/rapedefined.htm

Statutory rape is defined as sexual intercourse with a person under a specified age. This age varies from state to state and country to country but usually ranges from 12 to 18 years. Sexual intercourse with a person who is mentally deficient or unconscious and therefore incapable of giving consent is also sometimes considered statutory rape.

I disagree with the statement "Sexual intercourse with a person who is mentally deficient or unconscious and therefore incapable of giving consent is also sometimes considered statutory rape." as that should not be considered "statutory". No consent, it's rape.

At the time he did this, fifteen-year-old Brooke Shields was tantalizing us with the Calvin Klien ads where the camera slowly pans up her supine body ending at her crotch.

The age of consent varies all over the map -- including the map of the United States.

In Europe, there is no drinking age and thirteen is an allowable age to have consensual sex.

Some Iranian parents were charged in Lincoln, NE when they married their fourteen-year-old daughters to two men in their thirties. The men were charged with rape. In their country, this is the norm. Here it is an excercise in culture shock.

In Massachusetts, a sixteen-year-old is fair game but is a rape victim in California. In fact, sex with a girl who is 17 years 364 days is rape in California and you would have to register as a sex offender.

In Mexico, a girl has her coming out celebration, quincinera, at fifteen and is eligible for courtship and marriage. A girl may marry earlier if she desires. My wife's grandfather married her grandmother at the tender age of thirteen and moved to this country. They were married for over sixty years. Was he a "child rapist"?

moore or less?

Thanx to Hkmp5sd--[is that your first or last name?]--for noting that MM and the Hollywood Halfwits are cut from the same rotten cloth.

Don't take his Oscar--or was that Osama?--away from this icon of haters of civilization. The goons that gave it to him are just as bad a bunch of anti-liberty anti-American gas-bag hypocrites as this despicable piece of toad squat is. Why break up matchs that were made in hell and sullying someone else by passing the Osama on to them?

Carbine Williams

didn't design the M1 carbine. He may or may not have made a minor contribution to one aspect of it, but the design was Winchester.

Williams designed the short stroke piston that was used in the M-1 Carbine.
