I am looking at a new scope for my 223. I'm looking really hard at the Millett 6-25x56. Does anyone have any experience with this scope? I'm looking for good glass and turrets that track reliably and I don't want to break the bank either. It will be heavily used as a varmint/range scope. This means that turret reliability is important to me. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

I have the SWFA 16x 42mm, even though its not the SS version that thing still ROCKS THE HOUSE for turret tracking.

That is one big as_ scope... and heavy ! I've got the 4-16, and it is heavy...but it has been perfectly adequate... if you are really interested get the illuminated reticle one.

I personally wouldn't want that much glass or magnification on anything let alone a 223.

The intended use is to waste a lot of ammo on paper and groundhogs at over 500 yards while learning to use turret adjustments. I've always just used kentucky windage but using the turrets has always interested me. I would like something over 20 power at max magnification. I'm open to suggestions as well. This scope fits the bill on the budget (under $450) and reviews seem good.

Bfoosh006....it is HUGE to say the least, but I'm not looking for looks. I'm trying to learn how to use windage and elevation turrets at different ranges. All while keeping food on the table for the kids. That's why I'm not looking at $1000 or more optics.

If you wanna learn how to use turrets without spending too much, I reiterate SWFA. They're hands-down the most reliable tracking you can get cheaply, adjustments are always right on and precise. Glass really isn't bad either.

No, I don't work for them.

I would love to go with a SWFA but I would also like a variable power scope. I can't find a SWFA for under a $1000. I really don't want a fixed power.
