Mini 14 gas port bushing needed

One very well regarded source is Mike Knifong ([email protected] or [email protected], not sure which). The guys on the Mini-14 Forums really like his products, and they're reasonable. He can be hard to get hold of, though.

Or, if you want to have the work done, you can have it done here:

He offers an accuracy package that includes bedding, bushings, and a trigger job for $250.

Last posting I read is that they aren't selling the bushings separately do to liability. But you can have them installed.

From the web site:

At this time I am not offering gas port bushings as an individual purchase option. There were two factors that led me to this decision - time and options. Ruger has changed gas port bushing diameter within the 580 series rifles to make two different outside diameters. Add two different lengths, and with all the new barrel lengths and calibers the possibility of ordering the wrong ones and damaging your rifle is just too high. As for time, I make all of my bushings one at a time right here in the shop, and keeping sufficient stock for the aforementioned choices is slowing down turnaround times. I will still offer the bushings as part of the package deals, so you can be assured of getting the correct ones and the convenience of receiving your rifle with the medium sized bushing already installed so you don't need to worry about torque and stripped screws.

Accuracy Systems sells them in sets of three. Look about 3/4 of the way down the page.

It seems like the bushing on the left may be mislabeled but I've ordered an adjustable gas block, extended magazine release and muzzle brake from them with no complaints re the quality or their service.

I ordered that set from Accuracy Systems, and I agree that the one on the left looks mis-labeled. That looks like the factory bushing to me. I started with the middle size, but brass was still thrown way too far for my liking. After switching to the smallest size, brass is thrown about 10-12' and no more dented cases. Very happy with it. If you want the middle and largest size, you can have them, I don't think I will ever use them. A THR moderator recently showed me some real generosity so I would like to "pay it forward" so to speak. If you want them PM me your address and they are yours.

I ended up buying a set from ASI. I used the larger bushing which is a lot smaller then what's pictured. The brass throws about 6-8' without damage. Sometimes it goes goes 2:00 and other times 5:00.
