Mini draco!

This is why you use a scope for anything over 50 yrds

I'd love to know when and where this philosophy started (perhaps we saw its creation right in this thread).

I have some experience shooting this pistol and I gaurantee I can hit a moving target at 25 or a 100 yards no problem. The weight is no issue and the forward heavy balance comment only tells me you have not even had your hands on this peice....xr1200 come on we are not mentally retarded nor children so please if you have experience with this weapon then lets hear it otherwise dont assume you know.

Where did you get the handguards at bkjeffery? looking good.
I think he missed ya question but it looks like they say midwest industries in the picture on the pink gun.

Now for the 200 yard gong argument, I never seen where he said he could do it off hand just that he could do it.

For purely defense purposes, outside of someone walking into a room and spraying a lot of bullets all over the walls and hoping to hit someone , these guns are useless. As in an old Miami Vice episode.
Well heck with that argument any gun could in theory be used to walk into a room and spray a lot of bullets all over, well besides for single shots and derringers, wouldn't be doing much spraying with those. I guess those "evil" extended mags for glocks could never serve any purpose but this either??

If you tried to use this draco pistol for any type common rifle defense drill you would find you that at anywhere from 25 yrds. to a 100 yrds you wouldn't even hit most of your targets fast enough and if you had someone returning fire with a rifle you would probably be dead before you engaged your first or second target.

This I don't get, you clearly argue the fact that it has in your opinions no where near the accuracy of a rifle what so ever yet you want to put it up against a rifle for comparison. Why?? Because it shoots a rifle round? Look around its not the only gun that does this. Maybe since it is declared as a pistol we should compare it to other pistols?? For the sake of fairness (since the other argument was completely void of it) how would it fare against an AR pistol in equal barrel length in terms of accuracy and energy at the target at various ranges. Heck go with a gas piston AR so ya can't cheat with using the buffer tube.

As for engaging multiple people at 25 to 100 yards returning fire with rifles and dying, if you don't have something substantial to get down behind and or body armor you will more than likely end up dead even with a full size rifle by the time you engaged the second target. I can't really see you having a very steady aim while at least 2 people (hinted by you saying second target) are shooting back at you.

Personally the only real dislike I have toward the mini draco is how close my hand would be to the end of the muzzle, I'd feel fine trying one out with the rails and a handstop. I think it'd make a nifty SBR too.

I hear a few bad comments about the Draco, and they usually end up coming from someone who hasn't ever shot one. I didn't have access to a 200 yard range, but I could hit the 100 yard gong with my draco no problem. It's an ak.

Hey guys, wondering if you could help me out. I picked up a Mini Draco a few days ago and I'm having some issues with mine. Haven't actually taken it to the range yet (tomorrow) but now my hopes of it functioning is really low. I heard a review of a guy who took his out and was complaining that the bolt carrier would not reset and go back all the way, he complained of a few other issues but wasn't very clear. This got me curious so I loaded up thirty rounds and tried to cycle it manually. Right of the bat the bolt carrier would not go back, and I don't just mean it hit some resistance, it was stuck. If I let it back forward and really muscle it back, I can get it back. Aside from the totally getting stuck times, over all it takes alot of force to get this thing back, especial the first 15 rnds. I'm thinking it's going to cause a major issue. Would could cuase this? The magazine being seated to high in the receiver?

Let me know if anyone else is having issues, or of any ideas to fix

I loaded up a magazine and tried to rack handle. It wouldn't go back. I let it close, and thought for a second, man mine better not be messed up. Then I grabbed the handle and really RACKED it hard. It worked fine. It just can't be done in a slow fashion.

I'd compare this to the Kel-Tec PLR-16 or similar AR15-style pistols. This is a much closer match for those guns than the regular Draco. Overall I think you get a better product with this. Those guns typically are highly proprietary in one way or another, of varying reliability, and can be hard to find parts for. Everything that matters on this gun is standard AK, with the same solid construction and reliability.

I don't EVER want to see a pistol chambered in 5.45x39

Took it out today, put 100 rnds through it with no problems whatsoever. I was a blast!

Yes. You are alone.

5.45 surplus is steel core and if a 5.45 pistol shows up the surplus becomes *poof* illegal to import.

It's not uncommon for the Romanian AKs to take a bit of wearing in before they run really smoothly. Take it to the range with a little patience and a couple hundred rounds of cheap ammo. Just be patient with it for the first few mags and realize that that bolt carrier may hang up and need some manual assistance.

Took her out today, put 100 rnds of Brown Bear through her...and no problems at all. Video below

My Draco (original, not the mini) is the only AK that I can legally carry concealed, because it's a pistol.

That alone makes it useful.

It's also the most powerful pistol I own, with the highest capacity, and I have plenty of the cheap ammo.

No, I don't wear it IWB, but it fits in daypacks and other luggage a bit easier than my AK underfolder.

That makes it a good and legal truck gun for me.

Also, it's fun and it annoys people.:D

Glad that it worked well for you, my personal experience is that they tend to hang up when being "dry run" fresh out of the box and that when being fired.

With 7.62x39, I'd rather have the slightly longer Draco that I have. Every extra little bit helps, and I'd rather have it be a useful rifle (with stock, SBR) past 200 yards.

All things considered, well worth the wait and $200 tax to Uncle Sam. Its quickly become my favorite AK.

As soon as I can get my hands on one, I'm gonna SBR it. I'm going to do it exactly the same as my Draco SBR, but this one will even be shorter.

How cool would that be?

That is pretty slick, man. Very nice. That stock actually compliments the lines of the rifle very well, unlike the usual AR collapsible stocks.

Is that the midwest industries handguard?

Centerfire Systems also does, according to the gent on the phone. Even though they're not in the catalog yet, they're in the system. :)

From my reading you pretty much have to modify a regular handguard to fit. Nobody makes one for it yet. I just ordered the mini draco yesterday, should be here somewhere around Saturday or Monday. Here's hoping the sights are straight.

Just begs for SBR conversion and a suppressor!

Since Century is involved, I'll look at several before I buy one.
