Anyone here have any experience with the Savage Mk II bolt action rimfire rifles? I am considering the Mark II FV-SR. How do these compare to the CZ 452s in terms of accuracy and quality?

Thanks

Well I just got a cz 452 and love it! I was looking at the mk ii fvt and might still get it for some variety. Talk to the folks at rimfire central. The cz should have better fit and finish, but I have read of many happy savage owners.

The Savage MKII and 93 are great rifles for the money and tend to be very accurate. The CZ's are nicer guns and cost more but are still quite the bargain. They are a more refined design, tend to be smoother, more accurate and are available with real walnut in varying configurations.

Yeah, I love my CZ. It has spoiled me big time. I was curious as to if I should expect the same performance from the Savage Mk II FV-SR.... I like the FV-SR because it is suppressor ready. My CZ is not without having the barrel threaded.....

I looked at the Mk II FV-SR at my local shop but decided to get the Savage Arms Mark II TRSR instead because I liked the stock better. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet. Savage makes great guns I have complete confidence that it will be a great rifle.

I really need to get off my rump and go through the process of getting a suppressor, every year I say I'm going to and then another year passes and I still haven't done it. Now that I have the Mark II TRSR I want the new Ruger 22/45 with the threaded barrel and get a suppressor that will work on both.

I have the fv-sr . I payed 273 for mine. Stock on it is what most would expect, nothing specail but works. I did change mine to a boyds will dakota stock. Good tight drop in fit. Get the metal work for the bottom from stcocky stock, good price there . I did add a 30mm 6-24 x 44 scope Rifle out of the bow shoots well under 1/2" at 50 yards with sk standard plus. Also does not seem picky while useing up leftover ammo of mixed different brands at 50 yards. All shoot under 3/4" mixed up. After a couple 100 rounds in has dropped to 3/8" groups. have to find a different load for 100 yards as i get flyers that open to over a inch. Only tried sk at 100 yards. Trigger was ok at 2lb 8oz new. I did some triming of the trigger springs and some polishing and its down to 1lb 6oz. Good low cost 22 that can shoot with the many that cost way more.

I've got a MkII with the heavy barrel and thumbhole stock. It's quite accurate with Wolf Match ammo. I've also got a 452, but it's the Lux model with no glass. The MkII came with a cheap Bushnell 3-9x on it. I can't really do an accuracy comparison since one has irons and the other a scope, but they are both more accurate than I am. I had the MkII threaded by Innovative Arms to take my can. I want to say it was about $75 to thread and make a thread protector for it.

My groups with the MkII run about 1" at 50 yards. I could probably squeeze better out of it if I float the barrel. Or if I had my vision corrected

How is the factory FV-SR stock? Is it a hollow piece of plastic similar to the ones found on the base model Ruger 10/22s, or is it a more substantial feeling stock like the ones on the CZs?

I have the plastic stock on the savage and its still very accurate but have been thinking of buying the nice target wood stock...

The factory stock works. Does not touch barrel with out more than normal force. Just a basic low cost stock but works.
