I wonder how many people will apply now that the law has been reinstated? How many of you who are going to apply weren't planning to apply prior to Judge Finley's ruling last summer?
I'd been going through the process rather leisurely,
simply because I both work at home with my e-commerce business and simply don't go out very much.
I'd waited the first six months for the initial crush to subside--then did my training course last May, dawdled a bit more--and then got caught up in the judicial stay.
Now I think I'll have to repeat my class (it's been just over a year), won't I? At any rate, I am charging ahead now....
jfh, you might want to talk to the person who gave you your carry class. He or she may be able to give you a refresher course at a fraction of the cost of the original class.
I tried before we became a shall issue state without any luck of course. Got my permit shortly after the passage of the MPPA in 2003.
I was quite busy these last 6 weeks or so e-mailing and calling members of state legislature. I did a small part but we as a whole had a great victory(without much or any help from the NRA as I understand now)
Getting a flood of calls from family and close friends asking LOTS of questions as to how to get a permit. There will be a rush at Co. sheriff's these next few weeks but I expect it to taper off.
I am watching the web site for updated information which is about all I can do since I am a resident of Illinois. I am hoping they will honor Pennsylvania, New Hampshire or Florida, if not I will be looking into getting a non-resident permit if possible. I will be visiting in-laws in July so I want to get moving as soon as possible. I am open to any advice about my goal of carrying when I come north. Jim.
