Model 1 Sales Reviews

I've built a few AR's with kits from Model 1 Sales. Some for friends and some for myself over the years. I still have a LW barrel A2 style CAR-15 I built with one of their kits about 10-12yrs ago. Couple of cases of ammo thru it and I've had no problems (other than it won't shoot steel cased ammo). When I need a loaner rifle for a family/friends fun shoot this is it.

If your building a range toy it's fine. I wouldn't go to war with one.... unless I absolutly had to - but the rifles's I built with their parts have all been good shooters and relitively trouble free.

Biggest problem I see with their stuff is improperly staked gas tube on the BCG. I've had one come loose over the years - but you'll get that problem with some of the other mentioned builders in this thread as well from time to time.

They offer entry level stuff at an entry level price. You can build a much better rifle and spend a bunch more $$$. But you can also spend a bunch more $$$ and not get any better rifle....

I always tell people to buy the best that they can afford. If Model 1 is the best you can do right now thats fine. Build a rifle and shoot the heck out if. You can always replace the little stuff that breaks, a little at a time with Top tier parts from XXXX as the lower tier Model 1 parts fail (if they ever do).

Bought a 20" Bull Shaw barrel with free float hand guard upper + LPK and A2 buttstock from them. Rock solid hand guard, pin point accurate barrel (if I do my part) every part was brand new, no marks, dings or scratches, buttstock is solid, all bits and pieces clean and shiny. LPK is lower quality, my bolt release SNAP in two after I installed the trigger and hammer and dry fired the hammer, I think it was stamped (is that the right term?) but aside from the LPK this rifle has never failed to feed, jammed, broke or let me down. That was about 3 years ago and maybe 2000 rnds.

I have a 20" stainless bull barrel upper from them. Fast delivery, nice finish, and shoot 0.7 MOA with SMKs. Guess I was lucky?

I bought a complete varmint rifle kit (with a few upgrades) in .204 Ruger, and I'm 100% satisfied. It's an awesome rifle, and it's every bit as accurate as my .204 bolt gun. I'd buy from them again.
