For those that don't know, Magpul announced their AK PMAG is headed out to the masses. Here's a review of a advanced sample I got my paws on:

Pros:
-100% reliability in 5 rifles tested in
-Durable, Magpul quality
-Gen M3 PMAG marking system
-Grooves in the follower line up with grooves in the mag body to create a follower that is virtually impossible to generate tilt on.
-922r points
-Flared floorplate for pulling out of mag pouches

Cons:
-The big one is that there is no steel reinforcements. But, it's coming….

I was going to ask when they are going to start shipping to the masses, as their site had listed "late summer 2013" up until fairly recently, but I checked now and it says "SHOT show 2014", so finally, seems the wait is about over (assuming they can keep up with demand).

I think a Magpul magazine for my Saiga will be the motivation I need to install a bullet guide so I can actually use them.

Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review. I have enough mags that I don't need any of these and plan to wait and see what the reinforced mags bring to the table. I'm really hoping for something on par with bulgy waffle mags but at a lower price point. However, I'm glad to see these on the market. I hope the do well and really hope that magpul will make 5.45 mags.

Thanks... can you refer me to your review of the AK47 version? I found your 74 version and you refer to the fact that you've done a previous review on the 47 but I can't find it on your channel.

It's the standard SRVV, not the JET (just to clarify). I shot the review I just haven't gotten around to editing it yet (got about 50 of those….).

Good brake though----more blasty from the shooters perspective than the JET. Honestly I think the JET is the bees knees and I'd just go that route if I was in the market.

As to where you can get them; I actually helped set up the only US distributor (www.circle10ak.com) with the rights since so many folks were always asking me  Easier to just do the ground work to get someone to stock them than to answer the question every other day!

We need to see some AK pushups with that mag.

Regardless, I'm going to wait for the steel reinforced Magpul AK mags. And then I'll buy some only if they cost less than Comblock steel. Otherwise, I'll just keep sticking to what works.

The real advantage compared to ex-Warsaw-Pact steel mags will be weight. A 7.62x39mm steel AK mag weighs almost 2 pounds loaded.

Thanks for doing the review. What's the purpose of the date stamp? Is it for identifying problem batches (not that I distrust Magpul's products), or in case there's another ban with grandfather clause?

That's my understanding
