New to the forum and new to reloading. Just got my Dillon550B setup and just looking for some good advice on this bullet. I have CCI primers and W231 powder.

Thanks For any input,

I haven't used W231. The load I use for USPSA competition is a 124 grain Montana Gold JHP over 4.3 grains of Titegroup. It's accurate enough for competition, and runs well.

Anywhere from 4.4-4.8 grains W231 seems to be where things get accurate with my 124 gr loads. YMMV.

Yes, I used 1.132

4.3 grs 231 is a light load--about 1050'/sec in a 4.72" bbl. Light loading 231 leaves a sooty residue, but shoots fine.

It shoots much cleaner with a little more powder. Work "up" to your preferred load.

Thanks for the input guys. Still working on get my library of books up to par, right now all I have is the Lyman book.

Not sure about a P239, but a Glock will feed a MG HP as long as it fits in the mag. 1.13" will be just about perfect for a Glock.

If you want to make a "universal" load that will chamber in most any gun, including those with short throats (CZ, XD, etc.), you will have to seat that particular bullet down to around 1.085".* My Glocks like this OAL, too.

*I have a DP-51, and I found that it won't chamber a Hornady XTP unless it's seated exactly to Hornady's recommended 1.060" OAL, or shorter. For an MG 124 gr HP, that magic number is 1.085". So this is where I load most of my MG HP's.
