"So logically, if she weighs the same as a duck, then she's made of wood. And therefore..."
I had a line of thought just now that makes sense on paper, but may be so full of holes that it's just plain silly. Please excuse me, but the following makes sense to me.
- Most Mosin-Nagant stripper clips that exist today really suck.
- Apparently, there are conversions (albeit not very safe due to action strength) for Enfields to be rebarreled to 7.62x54R.
- Most, if not all, basic rebarreling jobs require that the case head be the same size for the new cartridge, IE a Garand converted from .30-06 into .308 or a 1911 rechambered into .50 GI.
- During a fit of boredom one day, I was playing around with some 7.92x57 Mauser stripper clips, but the casing I was slipping on and off of 'em were 6.5x55 Swede. They seemed to fit quite well.
So, logically, wouldn't an Enfield stripper clip work for loading 7.62x54R into a Mosin-Nagant? And therefore, inexpensively solve one of the only problems that the entire series has out of unfortunate circumstance?
I'd much appreciate it if someone could test out this theory for me... load 7.62x54 into an Enfield strip; insert it into the guide on a Mosin-Nagant; load all five rounds quickly, easily, and smoothly; and cycle the entire magazine to check for rim-lock.
It probably won't work, but if it does...
