Does anyone know where I can buy moon clips for the S&W 646? That's the .40 cal L-frame. The S&W has them for over $4 each, Brownell's has them for about $3.80 each, and I found a site alscuston.com that has some listed for an L frame but I can't be sure they'll fit a 646 for around $2.40 ea. Rimz moon clips aren't available yet.

The one's for my 610 are only in the $1 each range. I figure there's got to be a better price out there somewhere. I'd even be willing to buy a couple of dozen or more if it would help bring the price down.

Any ideas?

TK custom, aka moonclips.com

Still not as cheap as the 10mm or 45s; but they're the same clips S&W issues for less than they charge.

I've decided

I just couldn't find a .357 that really suited me. I looked at everything Smith currently offers and a few older models. That's not to say that I didn't see some nice revolvers, but none were what I really wanted. I happened to see on the tkcustom site that they had a few guns for sale and one was a 646.

It's a .40 L-Frame, 6 shot revolver with a titanium cylinder. I checked around the internet and found one on Gunbroker.com. So I made a bid and got one, NIB, for $520. Hopefully, they've received a copy of Stu's FFL and are mailing it out to him today or tomorrow.

I almost didn't get it due to the price of the moon clips (how can they possibly be 4 or 5 times what I paid for my 610 moon clips), but I couldn't resist.

So does this mean you don't want to shoot the 646?

Silly question.

Of course I want to shoot it!

Think you'll have it by next week or will I have to wait?

Congrats on a neat gun!!!

355SigFan: I haven't gotten the to fire the gun yet, waiting on the permit to come back, but my 610 is pretty decent with shooting .40. It's definitely better with 10's.

My 3" 610 loves .40 S&W! At least, it loves one box of reloads I put together. 180 grain JHP over a maximum charge of 231. Not the ideal recipe perhaps, but it shoots to point of aim. I just sort of stumbled across it. I have seen factory 180 .40 S&W shoot 3" low at 25 yards. Don't ask me to explain the difference.

Most every combination in 10 mm brass I have tried works well also.
