Now this is interesting. Center balanced system has released a new "furniture" for the DRAKO AK pistol that turns it into a bullpup ri-err--Pistol. Suprisingly, the ATF is totally OK with it, since "it is still designed to be shot with one hand":

So, with the OK of the XO-26b Ar15 "pistol" are we seeing a temporary rise of a more gun-friendly ATF? Or have they become so dogmatic "nuancing of the spelling" of their reading of the NFA that they can so easily be sides-stepped?

on their website the have the letter posted and it mentioned a revision without a front grip. so apparently the think you wont grab it by the rails? Who know? I Really like it though. I like most of there stuff, its futuristic looking, and something different.

+1 on the above, but it is an interesting concept. That said, I seriously doubt that it lives up to their name.

:)

Not really. I kinda like their Mosin stock, but still looks way too futuristic for me. Would sure get lots of stares at the range I go to though...lots of black-powder shooters there :p

How does one use the sights? For $220 I'd rather get a tax stamp for a draco. That thing looks to have a lot of issues in terms of using it and on top of that it is unsightly as can be. I like bullpups but I am yet to be impressed by a non factory one.

The right side is completely open, so it field strips like a regular AK. I believe replacing the rear sight with a scout scope rail and putting an aimpoint in it is the only way to make the sights usable. That or add a top rail and put sights on that. But, remember, its a pistol, so it shouldn't be that hard to look down the sights while shooting this thing with one hand ;).

Same here. It's just too hard to retrofit most rifles and achieve good, or even acceptable, ergonomics, much less a decent trigger. The only one that I have seen, and was reasonably impressed with was the WA-2000 clone for the Ruger 10/22...but for right at $1k (less rifle!) it didn't take long for me to become less impressed. ;)

It looks... Interesting. I don't know how I feel about it, and I'm not sure if thats good or bad, haha.

Their MN and SKS white stocks look like something from StarWars.

You know if their products weren't so expensive I'd get one of those stocks for my mosin. Spending 3x the cost of the rifle on a stock is ridiculous to me though

ugly.... I wonder how you change up the trigger and fire control group... could you legally put a small stock or pad for this "pistol"?

Only if you put a 16" barrel on it first and make sure it is over 26" overall length, at which point it is in a legal rifle configuration (federally).
One can now go back and forth between configurations when starting with a legal pistol.

But you may not have anything installed that is technically to make it a shoulder fired gun when it has a less than 16" barrel or is less than 26" overall or it is an illegal NFA firearm. 'Fired from the shoulder' is one of the criteria for a rifle, and rifles that are too short are NFA items.
A pad to make it easier to fire from the shoulder can make it illegal and subject you to a 20 year prison sentence (10 for making and 10 for possession I believe.)

I might acquire one, for the hell of it. Looks like a fun silencer base, if I could swing it.

this is a good option for people like me who live in Michigan and do not have the option to sbr things.
