Mossberg 500 Barrell on 500A

Anybody know if you can pit a model 500 barrell on a model 500 A receiver. I want to swap out my long vent rib for something more appropriate for home defense. Seems there are a lot of choices for the regular M500 but only a few listed specifically as 500A.

What other differences are there? I assume that the 500A I have is some ecomomy model ????

I believe the 500A is a 12 gage, and the 500C is a 20 gage; the 500 is the type of the gun, and the letter designates the gage.

Same here.I"ve not found a 12 guage barrel that would not interchange.
