I have a Mossberg 590SP. It has a 20" barrel, and I was wondering about replacing the barrel with a shorter (18.5") one. I called Mossberg and was told they don't make 18.5" barrels. I found this a little puzzling, because they've got a bunch of 18.5" barrels listed on their web site. I tried to get an explanation from the CSR, but he was being a dick and just wanted to get off the phone rather than help me. (BTW, this is not the first time a Mossy CSR has been short/unpleasant on the phone. I wonder if it was the same guy?).

Anyway, I'm wondering if he meant that Mossy doesn't make 18.5" barrels for the 590SP. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Thanks!

1.5" really doesn't make any practical difference.

Some reps are like that. It's not just Mossberg.

longer mag tube

The 590s have a longer mag tube, so the 18.5" barrell would be too short.

I understand about the mag, and the miniscule difference between the 20" and the 18.5" barrels.

Now, I'm still trying to find out if Mossy makes an 18.5" barrel for the 590. :)

Thanks for that link to AGR, Wdlsguy.
I've been going through the reverse of Maui19's search, to find a 20" barrel and the longer magazine tube for my Mossberg 500A. :scrutiny:
