What would you consider to be the monster of .45 autos?? I mean the largest, bulkiest, highest capacity production pistol available...

off the top of my head id say a 6 inch, long slide STI. i think its called the Eagle 6.0

HK MK23 SOCOM, don't know if any handgun is 'outrageous' and it sure isn't the highest-capacity either, but at almost 10" long, it probably is the largest and bulkiest .45ACP production pistol.

STI and ParaOrdnance both make M1911 style pistols with 14+1 capacity.

I dont know if its double-stack (b/c I would never own one.) Hi Point!!!!!!!
Its the heaviest, bulkiest, and most outraegeous

++1 on the HK SOCOM Mark 23! I honestly did a double take the first time i saw one. you could fit a roll of quarters in the trigger guard WITH your finger! I thought it looked like my DE .50! only more expensive!

IF the grip of any handgun does NOT fit your hand and trigger finger properly, it will not point properly nor shoot as well for a shooter who has great technique, trigger control AND consistent accuracy with handguns.

This question makes about as much sense as one I heard in the hi-fi business years ago of "How loud with those speakers play?"

Find a weapon that is an extention of your hand and body . . . one that points perfectly and naturally for YOU . . . one that allows your trigger control to be so incredible that you can routinely clean everyone's clock at each match you enter . . . a gun that will allow you to do this both in slow fire mode and while firing fast and furious without the gun torquing and twisting out of your proper grip!

If you get a poor fitting gun and take it to competitive matches, you will be severely handicapped against other outstanding marksmen, no matter how good you are . . . and you'll get your azzzz waxed.

There's an excellent article written on how to find a handgun that fits your hand and grip best. Check out that section on the site called corneredcat.com, it may save you wasting a lot of money on a gun that doesn't fit you and thus prevents you from shooting your best:

Sincerely,

T.

PS: Don't be offended by the fact that the corneredcat.com website is a site written by a female shooter FOR females. There's more great information in there that us "macho" guys were never taught . . . stuff to make you a better shooter!

CHECK IT OUT!;)

S&Wfan - but there are speakers that play loud loud loud and there are speakers that play good. some times people just want LOUD and dont care what it is they are listening too. i dont think this guy has the desert eagle syndrome ( bigger is better). i think he just wants to know waht big .45's are out there.

+1 for CZ-97, I was thinking about one a long time ago since I liked my 75b so much. I held one. It is HUGE. I got a few more 75s.

Believe it or not, I'd never checked out the Mark 23 before.

WOW that's an ugly gun.

The CZ 97 isn't much larger than the 75.

My vote would be a tricked out G21.

Or an STI longslide

both very high cap.

My MAC 10 with a 10 inch barrel and a 30 round double stacked .45 ACP Grease gun magazine would probably qualify as the biggest bulkiest .45 pistol I've ever seen. It's pretty big. A lot of fun to shoot though. It's actually for sale though right now if anyone is interested, make me an offer. :)

Not a double-stack, but those Chinese .45 Broomhandles are about the most over-engineered, enormous monstrosities out there.

But I still want one.

+1 on the HK Mark 23. Overpriced failure of a weapon that it is.

Failure? How? It won the service contract. Remember, it was NOT designed to be the carry sidearm. It was designed for specialized missions.

So did the Chauchat. What's your point? ;)

Seriously, the HK Mk 23 is the original "answer in search of a question." My understanding is that they don't get used much.

That certainly seems true, but you will have to admit, that is SOCOMS fault, not HK's fault. They gave them exactly what they asked for. So is it really HK's failure, or SOCOMS for the idea?
