Looking for opinions on the most reliable pocket automatic.

I am thinking about getting something as a BUG that is pocket sized.

I have looked at Kel-tecs but am not too impressed. I hear the Ruger LCP is nice if you can get one. I used to have a Rohrbaugh and liked it, but I cannot afford to buy another one again.

My LCP has been very reliable, and most owners I know have had similar experiences. You should be able to pick one up at a decent price by now. They are much more widely available than they were a couple of months ago.

Don't let the Kel-Tec lack of good looks fool you. Mine has been nothing but flawless. And was less than 3 bills.:)

Kel-Tec p3at. Carrying one now with a belt clip and there is no way anyone would ever know. I even carry it in my cargo shorts clipped to my pocket. Looks like a knife.

I have the beretta tomcat...great little pistol, and very inexpensive

gcrookston- You must have some mighty big pockets.
I used to carry a P232SL, but I carried it IWB. No way it's a pocket gun, at least not for me.

19-3 ben -- Up until a year ago I was suit & tie or sport coat or jacket. fits very easily into most coat/jacket pockets or trouser back pocket Now we're business casual, so I've switched over to a 340pd or 49. Those drop right into the front pocket of my trousers with a don hume holster to breakup the profile.

I used to be stuck with my CW9 (which I like a lot) but it wasn't really much of a "pocket auto", unless you're Andre the Giant. I could stick it in the pocket, but then it looked like I had a gun in my pocket, and it wasn't comfortable.

I had a P3AT which was completely unreliable and poorly made. I gave that up pretty quickly in frustration.

Enter my relatively new LCP. LOVE IT! 100% reliable, it's even pretty to look at (unlike that ugly little spud P3AT). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that after 1000 rounds it is still 100% reliable. I really like shooting the little guy.

I'll second the Seecamp's.

I've owned Keltecs, Beretta's, and a few others, and by far, the Seecamps have been the most trouble free, reliable, and accurate/easy to shoot.

To be fair, the older guns I have/had, like the Colts and Brownings were also reliable, I dont trust them to carry loaded with a round in the chamber.

Kahr PM9, or if you must go big bore, Kahr PM45. When I first got the PM45, I thought it was too big. But I have been toting this thing in my front right pocket for some time now and it has proven to be a winner for me.

The top two are pics of a Kahr PM9 next to a Kel Tec .380. The next one shows the size comparison of the Kahr PM9, next to a Kahr PM45. The last one shows a PM9, next to a Kahr CW40, next to a Kahr PM45.

Pocket auto and reliable = oxymoron. I think there is an unwritten law wherein the more miniscule the automatic, the more malfunction prone it is.

Anybody taking the time to peruse the weapon forums will note that Kahr plastic, Kel Tec P3AT and the Ruger copy too, all small Berettas, etc., etc., have been unreliable at one time or another.

Although the Glock 26 is reliable...I cannot imagine anybody placing it in their pockets. Maybe a coat pocket in the middle of winter.

Look...get a S&W 642 revolver if you want a pocket weapon that you can expect to function on a reliable basis.

My Ruger LCP is 100% reliable thus far, and of course my S&W 442 was 100% before I sold it. Either would be a perfect choice.

karh pm9

1st choice: Kahr pm9. it is very pocketable, extreme quality and mine goes bang every time. 2nd choice: lcp, mine is well made great guality, compared to my past kt's and also goes bang every time..

I have a S&W 642 and Kahr PM9.

I love them both. Neither has ever malfunctioned...

I have to agree with DawnFvr. I have never seen anything more reliable than a revolver. The object then becomes finding one with no sharp edges.
