Most unusual handgun you've carried.

Guys the NAA is a eally cool and well made revolver. I really enjoyed mine. However, I broke it. Not once, but twice. I traded it for an LCP.
In my experience, the tiny little NAA is too delicate to rely on for edc.

How'd you break it? Mine's been in my pocket 4+ hours a day for over 2 years now. I've probably only put a few hundred rounds through it in that time, but it's been with me with me no matter what I'm doing at home, be it sitting on the couch, landscaping, crawling under cars, or finishing my basement. I even took it to the beach with me once and ended up getting it packed full of sand while sitting in the surf with it in my pocket, it hasn't skipped a beat.

Not necessarily unusual, but uncommon, is my Grendel P10, and I've carried it.

I'm waiting for moderator Bikerdoc to remind us of when he carried for a while a 4-inch Ruger Police Service Six .357 revolver... in his boot. :D

I know, I liked mine too. Small enough to carry anytime. I carried mine in my swim shorts while jet-skiing on the Wabash river.
So first was a holstergrip issue. It would fold under recoil from the .22mag cyl. Not too big of a problem, and NAA sent me parts to repair it free of charge.
Next came light strikes. I was determined to become proficient with the little gun, so I shot it often. I talked to NAA and they wanted it back for repair. It was promptly fixed.
The last straw was when I drew it to fire at a coyote and it wouldn' t stand cocked. I had drawn and cocked as fast as possible to try to get a shot off before the coyote thought of somewhere else to be. I really don' know what parts failed. It didn' matter to me. I could no longer trust it.
NAA promptly repaired and returned it, and I traded it for a 870 for my youngest son.

I don't know if it counts as unusual, since it's current production, but here's what I carried today:

It's certainly unusual enough that I haven't seen another one in the wild (or its pappy the Boberg, either, for that matter)...

I have seen no Bondburg as yet in this arrondissement. How do you like it?

Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. It is a very poor concealed carry gun, with its hammer spur digging you in the ribs and the front sight abrading your buttock. The circumstances were unusual. Just a nice little country vacation outing, no need for a city boy gun. That vacation went wrong but my small gun was in a safe, many miles away.

If you ask me, they ought to move the cities farther away from the country. Less trouble that way. ;)

I did indeed carry a 4 INCH Ruger 357 police service six in my cowboy boot. Left boot right side.
I modified an IWB HOLSTER TO DO IT

It was a time when my family was threatened by one of my grand kids, estranged dad's, so for six months,or so I was loaded for bear, and hyper vigilant. I heard through the grapevine he is no longer a threat.

Better yet, dig em up, put antigravity generators in them, and just let them float away.......both the book and the Boston album are great- who can name it? Lol.

Had a somewhat similar situation where there was a very specific threat. Discovered it is possible to sleep sitting up in a duty belt with an M1A across your lap- but can't say I recommend it.

I have an old NEF (H&R, basically) five shot revolver in 32 magnum. Once I had to run an errand IMMEDIATELY (I misremember what the emergency was) and it was the only firearm not locked up. All it had in it was 32 S&W long. It's actually a reliable little handgun, but it wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice for CC. Since it was that or nothing, I stuck it into my coat pocket. It would have been better than harsh words and an angry facial expression.

Same story, similar gun. H&R 929 9 shot .22. Took quite a bit of work to make function with any amount of reliability. It isn't any worse than other .22 revolvers now, unless you're talking about the trigger. Or accuracy. Or comfort.

I could very easily carry a ketec PMR30 concealed, i'm not a big person either. But, at 19 oz loaded with a full 25-30 rd mag, it could be a pretty good weapon to have on one's person. It is a little long, but, its thin and light weight, pretty much ambidextrous, has pretty decent sights for low light situations. And, a fair amount of ammunition on hand. :D

I have a habit of theme carrying to movies IE 1903 Colt pocket auto to gangster movie. My most unique will probably happen when I go see the new western Hostile when I plan on packing a Uberti Model P Jr in 32/20.

Love it. There's a thread over in the autoloaders forum about them with my range report, but short version, it's a tiny little pocket pistol that shoots like a much larger gun. Unlike any other tiny gun I've fired, I can shoot 200 rounds in a session and be looking for more. Very high quality, very reliable as long as you use crimped ammunition. I'm up to a little over 600 rounds, haven't had a stoppage yet.

Did you go see "The Last Jedi" yet? :D

I don't go to the movies, but I do sometimes change up to match the setting. Being married to a Russian, I have quite a lot of Russian friends, and I frequently carry a Makarov when I'm going to be around them (though, admittedly, it's a Bulgarian. I don't have a Russian handgun yet.)

I've carried a 7 1/2 inch Redhawk .44 mag in an old Bucheimer shoulder rig on a few occasions. I'm tall and it actually conceals very nicely even under a light windbreaker.

Back in the mid-70s I carried a H&K VP70, but not in this country.

I wore my VP70Z one time. It got so many odd looks, and questions, "Is that a real gun?", that I decided to never do it again.

One very odd thing was when I carried my Dan Wesson 15-2. Some doofus I was 86'ing out of the casino I worked in saw the nut on the end of the barrel, and started saying, "Ha ha, you guys don't even carry real guns!". I, of course, insisted it was a real gun, and finally dug out a gun magazine with an article about DW guns I had in a desk drawer in the office to prove it to him. He still didn't believe it. My boss came in, saw what was going on, and asked me to give him my gun. He unloaded it and touched the side of the barrel to the guy's cheek and apparently the feel of cold steel convinced him. I was surprised he just did that, as I expected him to put the barrel into the guy's mouth. My boss was a very scary guy. His fighting abilities were amazing. He was a 57 year old guy who regularly fought 20-30 year younger guys, some of them pretty scary themselves, and he always won. Many times, the guy he was fighting would be taken to the hospital afterwards. I never saw any real damage to him the entire time I worked with him. He died of prostate cancer at 69. Until a couple of weeks before the end, he was working as a bouncer in a nghtclub, and still winning fights.

AMT Backup 380 in single action. Notoriously known for being a lemon. It worked fairly well for me using FMJ or tipped hollowpoints.

Though I usually keep a Smith 43c 22 in my front pocket, I occasionally substitute a 22 Smith Escort, a nice pocket pistol from days gone by, but fairly rare these days. It is just as appropriate and functional as it was 50 years ago.

Way back in the late 70's I lived in Northern California,,,
Paradise, California to be precise.

Due to an ambiguity about "readily available ammunition",,,
Cap and Ball handguns weren't considered to be actual firearms under the law.

My wife was the secretary for the town attorney,,,
Later she was the office manager/secretary for the police chief.

The chief drew up a letter for her (and me) stating that the .36 caliber Remington cap & ball pocket revolvers we both carried were legal under the law,,,
The letter was also signed/endorsed by the town attorney.

Ours were Italian reproductions.

I never got caught carrying so I never had to test the letter,,,
My wife on the other hand did have need to brandish the pistol at a convenience store.

The Chico cop read the letter and called for clarification,,,
It must have worked because he returned the gun to her and let her go.

By the early 80's the legislation plugged that small loophole.

Aarond

.

Why didn't you just get a CCW from Butte County? Butte has always been pretty much a "shall" issue county. Heck, I spent quite a bit of time in Paradise in the 80's and 90's. With all of the marijuana squatters only a fool would go unarmed off road up there.

I've posted this before, and I carry it with some frequency.

Keep one of those in my get home bag
