After reading many of the mount & scope ring questions, I have come to the conclusion it is a bit of a crap shoot. Bummer, no Silver Bullet.
I have a Weatherby Mark V in .270 Wby Mag & a Swarovski 4-12x50 A Habicth (1" tube) that had a squiggly, non identifiable mount & ring set. The Habicth is already back to Swaro for a Check & Clean. Scope & Mark V will be to Paso Robles early next year for upgrades & scope mount. Ready to, no NEED to put a decent set on to hold the scope in place.
The Near AlphaMount ( www.nearmfg.com ) looks promising and they make product specific for Weatherby. Not worried about topping off the magazine quickly so a one-piece mount could work. The biggest concern is the height with a proper cheek weld. Would be nice if there was a scope fitting machine a la Dr. Scholl's gel inserts.
Am looking for suggestions & advise. Much appreciated. Thanks.
