Mounting an AR case deflector

Is anyone familiar with how the case deflectors mount for a flat top, detachable carry handle, AR-15? As is usual, Midway lists them as "may require some 'smithing" while Fulton just says, "Installs in seconds."

If you have a standard A2, it fits as seen in the picture. If you have a flat top, there are a few other options. One option attaches to the actual rails of the upper receiver and another apparently attaches to the detachable carry handle.

While these defelectors are handy, they will badly ding the mouth of your ejected cases. A piece if sticky foam tape on the rear of the deflector will help.
