Naa... Not my cup o' tea.

But this MTV flick (based on the trailer) could be summed up as a simple enticement to get more gals involved in computer gaming...

Gee, I wonder when the DVD - and the computer game - will hit the stores??!

Last city on earth? What the...? What happened to the perpetual hostilities between the cultures of Monica and Bregna? What about the twisted love/hate relationship 'tween Aeon Flux and Trevor Goodchild?

What a crock! Hollywood ruins another interesting story to make another cheezy action film. :banghead:

You want Aeon Flux, go here.

Sindawe, I feel your pain. It is my rule of thumb to never watch movie adaptions of things I really enjoy until I have talked to my therapist about it for a couple months. :)

I know this is going to sound dumb, but... I tihnk they made it too "real."

If they had A) shot it like "A Scanner Darkly" (see here) and B) kept her hair the way it was in the series, then it'd've been a million times better. *sigh*

Guess Hollywood always finds some way to screw up. :banghead: Heck, even "A Scanner Darkly" looks really cool... except for the fact that Keanu Reeves is in it. They should've gone with someone like Kevin Spacey or Christopher Walken.

Yeah, I'm a huge Aeon fan. Still have the original Liquid TV shorts on a VHS around here somewhere. Got a couple of the books they put out too, rather rare.

The trailer looks cheesy, and I know the adaptation will suck. They should have just made an action flick about a hot chic with guns in the future, and left Aeon out of it.

Film shoulda been CGIAnime like Appleseed.

rwc... looks like a pair of TMPs that she is using, but what are those hand-held gatling guns?

Some things just dont translate to live action very well. Aeon Flux is almost certainly one of them. I fear this is going to be a bitter dissapointment to all the people who grew up on the original, which is a pretty heafty chunk of the theatrical release demographic

On the brightside, hopefully this means a full and wide release for the animated series on dvd. I was very young when they played on MTV, but the series has held a mystique since. I'm not too optimistic Hollywood can uphold that. It wouldn't be hard, but preservation of art never trumps $$$$$$ for the studios.

Good point. Movies will often get some other merchandising going. For exaple, now would be a lovely time to purchase a nice boxed set of Frank Millers bound Sin City books, these were hard to find before the movie.

kinda hard to make a movie from since she died at the end of every cartoon short...

this nonsense looks like Nikita meets Jessica Alba on the set of Equilibrium.

good B material though.
