Been posting about my new TC Compass 300 win mag. My first outing Saturday was successful. Since then and working loads I have discovered that this rifle is shooting multiple loads accurate and 1 inch or less. Almost as if to say it isnt picky about what you feed it. To me that is a great sign. My sons TC Compass is the same but I've only tested it with 2 different reloads and factory rounds. This gets me to wondering what has TC figured out to be able to produce rifles with accuracy to shoot multiple loads at moa or better? Anyone else ever had this with a rifle?

It’s not magic. I use this kind of result as a barometer for whether I want to keep a rifle or not. Almost all bolt action rifles manufactured in the last decade (or three) can be coaxed to shoot sub-MOA. However, some require a lot more “coaxing” than others. It’s generally none-too-difficult to find rifles which are less picky, and those are the rifles to keep, while the ones which only like one load really need to be considered. If that ONE LOAD is sufficient, and you have a means to ensure supply for it never runs out, great, otherwise, send the rifle kicking rocks down the road.

I found a 30-06 load around 42gr that is dead on at 100yrds in my Howa 1500s and Rem 700, I also found a load with 125gr bullets and 44gr powder that is a pleasure to shoot. The upper loads I load are a little below max and there is a spread of .9gr for the Howas and .7 for the Rem. I like that much spread to make it easy when loading. My garands and H&R seems to prefer lighter loads, the H&R on the low end shoots 200yrds like a laser. I like to find a load that is accurate when the load is plus or minus a little. I divide the starting load and max by 5 to find a starting point and then take the most accurate and work on those, this year I am going to work on 7 different 30-06s to look at some new bullets and hope to find loads that works on multiple guns
