My little girl is the best girl in the world. She asked me last week if I could get her a 22 revolver that fits her. She is nine and on the small size. Well I found a used Bearcat SS and bought my first gun on line. I should have it in her hands this weekend. I will post pics when I do. Her Savage Cub should see less time now. It is one of those times when life seems perfect.

That's wonderful! I've helped teach several kids your daughter's age to shoot. The look on their faces when they start hittng the target or knocking down plates is priceless. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Very cool. My daughter is about to turn 7 and she loves shooting her pink Crickett. I've been thinking about a .22 handgun as well for her and the wife.

You are lucky that she already asked for a pistol. My Daughter is 9 and I started her with a single shot 22 bolt. One of the Henry mini's. Great gun and surprisingly accurate. Once she masters it we will move up to a handgun when she asks for it.

My daughters Bearcat is now a family heirloom. I bought it for her when she was nine and it fit like it was made just for her. I like shooting it now that she's moved on to other pursuits and I look forward to someday teaching grandkids to shoot with it. No rush though.

I started both my daughters with a Ruger Mk II when each was 8 years old. Neither one cared for my Super Single Six 22Lr/22Mag.
My oldest is 32 and in Grad school at UT Austin. Shoots just fine but is not that interested in guns. But she is pro gun. I did put her through a very aggressive 3 day Women's self defense course, without firearms. They used knife, Chemical spray, and blunt trauma weapons. It was full body contact. After one day she called me and proadly told me she broke the punching dummy. I want to put her little sister through one too, but can't find any in the area that I am to impressed with these days.
My youngest is 22. Today her main shooter is s Colt Combat Elite (Government length 5" in 45acp don'tcha know) I bought new and set it up for her with very thin Navidrex grips and a old Short Colt trigger I had laying around and few other little tweaks and such here and there.
She stands 4' 11" and 100 & nothing lbs.
For CCW she has a Springfield EMP in 9mm. The same 1911 like function in a nice and compact size she can comfortably conceal. She told me she was good with the stock grips and trigger, I thought she might want a shorter trigger. She actually prefers to shoot the full size Colt, but needs the EMP for concealment.
I also got her a Carbine, a Kel-Tec SU-16c because it is so light. The regular AR family was to heavy, and I personally don't own any weapons that crap where they eat. All my piston guns, up to including a M1 Garand and M1A/M14 were to big and heavy for her too. (FN SCAR, Robinson XCR, SIG 556.etc....)
Set it up with an inexpensive little red dot. She also has a Double barrel Hammer gun in 20ga. Loaded with #3 buck as her goto Home Defense gun.
Don't mess with daddy's little girl, she has options.
Go figure.

My little girl started shooting at 6. I gave her a Smith 19 for her 15th b day. I am thinking very strongly about making her dream come true with a 1911 for her 17th.
A Bearcat is a great choice and it makes me smile that you are starting your little girl on a life of responsibility and self reliance.

My oldest who can shoot, chooses not to. Presently in Grad School, she works in the preforming arts, both music and theater. Needless to say the folks tend to be very liberal. My Daughter isn't.
My oldest told me a story about when she was working for the leading theater group in the Los Angles area. One of her fellow workers a male, made some, to use her words, "stupid" statements about guns.
My daughter called him on it. She informed him that she had lived her whole childhood around loaded guns. Knew how to shoot and handle many types of guns etc....., and had never seen or heard of anyone getting hurt. He argued the liberal party line, and took a drubbing. My Daughter got her Full ride Undergrad scholarship for Forensic/Debate, in fact has been a full pay staff Forensic/Debate coach at a University.
My point is, we have another advocate, both verbal and very persuasive. Although not a shooter as such, and totally immersed in the liberal world, she takes her shots for our cause. We get our message out in places it is hardly ever heard. That is the best there is.
Keep teaching those kids, often in this case, the unintended consequence is a favorable one. Besides the knowledge and ability to shoot, is a skill all kids should know. Now if they choose not to pursue shooting, they are doing it from a point of knowledge, not ignorance.
Go figure.
