Whalerman asked me in another thread, "Mistwolf, what is that model Marlin in the photo? It is nice." It was made for Davidson's and was the third LTD.

Here are the other LTD models Davidson's had made. About 1000 or 1100 of each were made, from what I understand-

LTD I 24" half octagon barrel, full magazine, straight grip, no checkering

LTD II 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, pistol grip with checkering

LTD III 18.5" tapered octagon barrel, full magazine, straight grip without checkering

LTD IV 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, straight grip, no checkering

LTD V 24" half octagon, full magazine, pistol grip with checkering

A few years ago I got serious about locating and acquiring an LTDIII as I have a weakness for octagon barrels on lever actions. At the time, I didn't know so few were made. One came up on for sale on the internet at good price and I had the cash on hand. Haven't shot it as much as I would like, but I'm hoping that's gonna change soon. Want to see how it'll do on hogs. Maybe, someday, I'll be able to use it to hunt elk and even bison. If I ever get to go on an African Safari, this is what I'm taking.

I have to agree with Whalerman- It's nice

Love the LTD III! Very nice gun, best of those LTD runs. I'd love to find one myself.

Wow! That is spectacular looking!
Thanks for sharing.
I don't own a tube fed lever gun yet, but now I want one even more!

That is one beautiful rifle. I would love to have the 1895 Cowboy to go along with my 1895G.

I can tell you from personal experience that the 1895G will do a number on Hogs. I can't wait to an Elk I have a tag for, dern Bull, in the sights.

The LTD III has the (beauty) aesthetics of the Cowboy and the handiness of the Guide Gun. Near perfection when it comes to a in the field rifle.

...and that's why I got it. I like this style and mag capacity better than the Guide Gun. Had a Guide Gun once and liked it very much, but the LTD is even better
