Yes it is a 14.5 with perm. flash hider. Even with the heavy barrel it is suprising ly light.

It's nice to know that they are shipping quickly for some customers. I had a custom CMMG upper on order for months with no sign of it being built and eventually cancelled the order after I saw other CMMG complete uppers in stock and shipping at AIM, not to mention CDNN has been listing various CDNN rifles for 2-3 months now. If anyone from CMMG is here, I'd like to know what's the deal with shipping stuff "on spec" (not special ordered) to dealers before filling orders placed directly on CMMG's website.

Sorry to be a thread hijack, your rifle looks great and I hope you like it. I'd just like to know why my special order languished for months.

It should be a "govt profile" under the handguards and IMHO that is more desirable than the heavy barrels. It should shoot 55gr FMJ just fine, and be happy with heavier bullets up to 77gr SMKs, which are probably what it would be most accurate with. It will probably not do well with anything lighter than 55gr, especially varmint HPs.

1/7 should shoot 55 just fine. I have shot some 50 grain out of my 1/7 with no problem. It really just depends on how the round is made.

I did email them before ordering to determine the wait time on the model I was looking for. They do offer a wide array of options for the person who doesnt want the different version of the same thing that everyone else is offering. Z-Michigan, sorry to hear about your experience, maybe you can email them and try again? The AR buying tsunami is over and I think the wait time and parts availability is much better. I hear Bravo Company does a similar service too.

I guess it is a government profile so it is smaller under the handguards. They dont make true heavy barrels. It is my first 1/7 twist AR so I am curious to see how it handles the 55 grains.
I didn't think they made an HBAR, but was too lazy to look it up.

You shouldn't have any trouble with 55gr. if you don't shoot too far out. About half my ARs, and the ones I shoot the most are 1/7 twist and all I shoot is 55gr m193 surplus. I get about 2MOA out of them which I believe is the limit of the ammo, not the barrels. they don't shoot any worse than my 1/9 twist barrels. Maybe at longer ranges is widens out.
