Ummmm. THR seems to work O.K.

Sure, it's not as broad and instant as one of those wonderful campus alert systems. But I usually drop in every day to see what's happening, vote on polls, share ideas, and get good advice. (I sometimes reply, too. But I'm not really here to boost my post count so I can be a bigtime important "Look at me! I've got a brantillion bragillion posts!" guy.)

I'd rather read a post from someone who has 8 posts and something enlightening to say than someone with 284,973 posts about nothing.
 
I have to say, the "Lighten Up Francis" is about the best reply to this.

It doesn't always have to be "sky is falling" serious......
 
My 1000th post is waaaaaaay back in my rearview mirror. And I have been around here long enough that I think I can safely say that all the activism, communication, and awareness you can want is on here; that the people who post here ARE active in supporting RKBA; and that your concerns are significantly overblown. :)

People can get a lot done and still cheer for small milestones and celebrations. The two are not mutually exclusive.

When I first saw that, I had a real *** moment. And my mind started screaming "what is this BS?" But.. I'm glad I stopped and thought about things before responding to this.

If you think about it, this actually brings everything together. Here's a person who's proud of his heritage, but has seen first hand some of the worst possible outcomes of a disarmed and oppressed populace.

Everything makes sense now. I totally get where Rachen is coming from.

No offense to you and Code Monkey, but I am actually from there. Now, people can say what they want about China is, but I am from there. My parents and relatives lived through Mao's era, and they said it was the best era they ever lived in. And no, they were not privileged or special. There is no such thing as celebrities in Communist China. Mao's era was an era so conservative that even if you smoked cigarettes during high school, every one of your fellow students will shun you and not be your friend.

Now, as I am typing this, I am suddenly seized by a desire for some Tofu with fried baby shrimp and shredded parsley. Some hot steamy rice and a platter of spicy Sichuan pickled vegetables:) Thats what people commonly ate during the 60s-80s era in PRC.

I can share with you more great stories about life in China if you want me to.

Actually............................No. I do not embrace hardcore communism. You should read my post about communism on the "Legal" thread. Wait, actually, I'll copy it onto here. Chinese communism is more like nationalism and it is different than what the libperverts/left wing socialists preach.

And I love America just as much as I love my home country. On my page, there are a lot of things about the War For Southern Independance as well as regular gun stuff and martial arts.

And Code Monkey, I assume you should be familiar with some of the songs and videos on the page too.

PS- Hope you look foward to the Olympics! They just finished refurbishing Terminal 3 of the Beijing airport. It is supposed to look like a dragon from above. I can't wait to go there!

They are basically the same thing to me. Communism/liberalism oppresses the masses, uses the "plight of the working class" to attack people. Fascism, uses "we have to defend our rights as rich people and our businesses and capital interests", to attack people. Same exact thing. It's like asking whether you want to get splashed in the face with a concentrated solution of sulfuric acid than with a concentrated solution of sodium hydroxide.
Well, one's an acid and one's a base right? Opposite extremes? Yes, but you will still get your face burned so bad that if you stand in front of a chimpanzee cage, the occupants would stop j*rking off. No offense, but just got to clarify.

Now, Chinese communism is something entirely different. We are communist in name only. We are actually very nationalistic and have little interest in liberal policies. It's like trying to compare table salt to an acid or a base. But liberals here in the States are working on a differenrt agenda. They are mixing up a solution that will burn people's faces right down to the bone, and leave nothing but a skull behind.

Frankly the premise of this thread is misguided. If we can't have a little fun what is the point? It's not "silly", it's fun. Is that not something you are capable of?

I appreciate that you are concerned about 2A issues, we all are. But that is not the only thing this forum is about and the divisiveness between gun owners over caliber going beyond arguments on the merits? Get over yourself.

I echo the Lighten up Francis remark.

I carry my massive LeMat when I have to take the subway during the bleak hours. I guess I am lucky I don't have to take the A or the 2,4,5.

When the girls inched closer, I would have reached into my bag, which is always on my lap, and thumbed back the hammer to the grapeshot barrel. When they attacked, I would have let them have a searing blast of grapeshot at point blank range.............But I don't think thats a wise action to explain to the judges later.

I like to avoid situations, actually there are a lot of times on the subways when I changed cars to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Always expect the worst, and when you know that things are about take a turn to the sh*tty brothel toilet, time to leave.

Unlike those nasty pop songs these filthy teens listen to nowadays, which last no longer than a month or two, the LeMat has lasted for over 150 years, and more than several scum were smitten by it during the War of Northern Aggression. This video is an example of materialism and consumerism gone completely wild. Even though I don't carry to class because of the stupid gun free zone, I am still pretty much a student of Chinese Wushu for the past 7 years.
If someone barges into my class and holds a gun to anyone's head, I would find ways to get close to the perp and break their neck and spine, and crawling/running while crouched low and between people and rows of desks makes good distractions and also throws the brains of anybody into momentary confusion. Enough confusion to get right there in front of them, up close and personal.

If you want to know the truth, I think one of the reasons that gunnies can't get along is because not enough of it IS fun and games. We take ourselves much to seriously as a group. There are serious aspects to shooting and guns, and we need to protect our rights, but we need to loosen up a bit too.
Who wants to join a community in which a simple celebration of having 1000 things to say is met with "We are on the verge of being herded to concentration camps. Get active.". Not me, thats for sure.

So, lighten up. THR is a general gun forum, not an activism forum. There are ample posts in which activism is the key topic, so it shouldn't be hard to find those if thats your thing.
