Started out as a classic carbine model, added a 20'' green mountain blue bull barrel and a Hogue Olive Drab stock. Found the scope at SWFA, its just a 3X9 BSA sweet .22 scope seems pretty good, has adjustable objective. Also threw in a Volquartzen target hammer and spring kit, a nylon bolt buffer and did the auto bolt release mod. Should be a fun little plinker for shooting paper and squirrels, turtles and such.

Does a suppresor make that much difference? Ive seen cb longs and.the bolt buffer mod really quiet down a 20" barrel rifle.

suppressor will quieten it down to just the sound the hammer and bolt cycling makes....as long as you use subsonic ammo. With high velocity ammo, the suppressor will seem like it does almost nothing at all. The bullet breaking the sound barrier is THAT loud.

The silencer really does help. While you can shoot CB (primer only) ammo that is nearly noiseless, subsonic 40 grain bullets moving 1000 fps is nearly three times more powerful than 29 grain CB bullets moving only 700 fps. Silencers are the nicest accessory I have ever attached to my rifles. I make them as a hobby to beat the cost of buying them. I still have to pay the $200 on each to the BATFE.

if you run subsonics with a suppressor is will sound a lot like one of those tiny nail guns they use for putting on trim. PA-cheet. if you run cheap federal stuff it will go supersonic and be louder. Like, I still want some basic ear protection though I can live without it loud. I was disappointed by what you get with a suppressed 22. now, suppressing the larger caliber stuff is a whole different ball game. (which is backwards from what most people say. they say start with a 22 can, but I found that I still wanted ears with a 22 can so what's the point? suppressed AR's etc go from deafeningly unpleasant to like shooting a 22, which is a bigger payoff for me. But so you know where I am coming from, my ears are sensitive and deafness runs in the family......)

I am very happy with my suppressed 22lr firearms as I only run subsonic through them. The cheaper Blazer is 1200 fps in a rifle, but about 1060 fps in my 5 inch pistol barrels, so it is excellent for pistols. Buying CCI std vel in bulk for $5.90/100 is not so cheap for the rifles, but much better than 223, 308 or 9mm.

If im out in the field I dont wear ears for shooting my ar 15 rifles, and I have one with a slidefire, such a blast. I figure in a home invasion situation an intruder isn't going to give me time to find my ear protection. I tried remington subsonic and it was very quiet.

With just the subsonic CCIs and no suppressor my 20" barrel Henry is very pleasantly quiet. Also very accurate and deadly on squirrels, rabbits etc.

The CCI subsonic hollow points are perfect performers when fired into like 4 milk jugs lined up and filled with water. Perfect mushroom.
CCI also makes a subsonic segmented hollow point that splits into 3 pieces when it hits--very badass results on a squirrel's head and pretty impressive on water jugs too. I believe the CCI item or part number is 0074(?) but not certain.

I find that shooting any center fire rifle out in the open without ear plugs or muffs to be a painful experience. I think that any rim fire cartridge in a rifle other than CB is also too loud to preclude the use of hearing protection. I still have most of my hearing left and can hear as low as 5-15 decibels. You most likely already have significant hearing loss if shooting an AR-15 without hearing protection is not a painful experience.

You will eventually come to regret this.
