Just picked her up from the 'smith yeaterday.
.54 Uberti Hawken, unfired. Beautiful browned barrel and fixtures, with fire blued TG, wedges and plates, rod ferrules and hammer.
The scope is an Ebay find, and a 6x- not the usual 4x you can get from DGW.
Now to get it scienced out at the range!

That looks like a very specialized rig where everything complements each other splendidly.
Wonderful photos too.
How long is that barrel?
Please show us some of the range results sometime. :)

I chose the Uberti rifle for the project, as it has a longer than standard pull length, and fits my long arms comfortably, as well as their reputation for being very accurate (the rifle- not my arms-HAHA). The barrel, as well as the scope are 32 inch.
I was impressed as to how it all came together- it's almost too nice to shoot, BUT trust me, it will get shot!
I'll post a report as soon as I can get sufficient range time in.

I just did a bit of research on Captain Jack Hinson, and I take the comparison as very high praise, 4v50Gary- now to find a gunboat!

As soon as I can get some range time in, I'll post the results. Right now I'm in the middle of rebuilding our 6pdr. in preparation for a reenactment on Labor Day weekend.
The scope was found on Ebay- apparently one of several ordered by a gunsmith down south that was planning on building some 'buffalo rifles', hence the 6 power instead of the more easily found 4 powers.
