Weather was nice enough today to get to the shooting range. So I took my Walmart Mini-14 out for its first dance. I put a Leupold Vari-X II 3 X 9 X 40 scope on it. The ammo used was Wolf 55 grain FMJ and HP. It took about 10 shots to get the scope semi-zeroed. I sight in scopes in an unconventional manner. I just sit at the shooting table with my elbows on the shooting table and shoot at small rocks at the end of the range. I just keep adjusting the scope until the rocks start splitting. After getting it sighted in I noticed someone had left several clay pigeons on the berm behind the 100 yard line. They were laying at an angle to my line of sight so they offered a more challenging target. I was able to bust three clays pigeons with four shots. I was impressed !!! Distance was about 105 yards. Needless to say I am impressed with my $604 Walmart Mini...... No failures of any kind either.
