Have no clue where to post this question . . . friend sent me the pics . . . supposedly .22 cal & an experimental round around Viet Nam time. The green is fiberglass and the flechette is inside. Don't know what the thought process was for a round like this. Any guesses?

theres a member on here with a webpage with all kinds of experimental ammo. im sure it will be on there. let me see if i cant drag it up

It's a 5.6mm SPIW Flechette round. There are 3 major types. Yours is one of two that are very similar. Tough to tell from a pic which one of those two similar ones you have.

Collector Grade published a book call "SPIW: The Deadliest Weapon That Never Was". It has all the info you could possibly want on the US military experiments with flechette ammo, and other similar projects.
