Nate, who posts as Nateyboy, made a post earlier in the day indicating he had purchased a SIG P225 from Gander just today. He paid $349 which was the typical price of $399 but got a $50 clearance discount for their blowout sale for a total price of $349.

I purchased a SIG P225 from Gander about a month ago and have it on layway. Considering Gander will price match, I called my store which is several states away from Nate and his store to speak with Mark, the store manager, inquiring if my Minnesota store would match the price Nate paid earlier in the day. My store was not offering a clearance discount on the P225s and are currently marked at $469.00

Mark agreed to adjust my price to $349.00, which I feel is very good for the Gander P225's. Because of Nate and The High Road, I saved $50 and took home the pistol tonight!

Nate was very prompt in returning my private message asking for his store information so I could call and confirm the clearance price at his store.

Thank you Nate and thank you to The High Road.

What I can do with $50:

Pay the electric bill for a month, or
Take my wife out for a nice dinner, or
Secure a months supply of Gerber baby food, or
Secure a two month supply of dog food, or
Buy a very nice flashlight

I'll put that extra $50 to a very good purpose.

Thanks again!!!!

I love a happy ending.
Oh, if my math is still modern enough, 469-349=120. Looks to me like you got a bit more Gerber than you think.
This is another reason I like THR.

Don't forget ammo

I ran through about what I saved after I took it to the range today!!!:) :) :)

Today was a good day.

Also... Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad that you were able to get what you wanted.

Hi Dean,

I neglected to mention that my price upon initial layaway payment was $399.99 back in the middle of December.

Your math is working correctly, if someone were to buy one of the many P225
pistols still on the shelf and requested the price from Nate's Gander, they would, in fact, save $120 over the marked price.

They still honored the free $19.99 warranty/free clean plan that I negotiated for inclusion in the deal as well, so I was pleased.

Hi LAK,

The P225s are surplus German police trade ins. Apparantly Gander purchased hundreds or thousands of them because my store alone had 12 of them. Most of thre stores in this region have several.

They've got some holster wear but seem to be mechanically very sound. The bore on the one I purchased was very nice. Most looked like they could use a thorough cleaning. I'd recommend that anyone interested in purchasing one ask for the $19.99 plan that includes the free cleaning on the house.

$349 is a good price in my opinion, they did have two used non surplus P225s for $499.00 that looked like they were in really nice shape.

I'm heavily considering using the P225 I bought as a truck gun rather than have a new finish put on it.

I don't know what you are saying furious styles, perhaps you could provide a definiton for the codespeak and kitten talk.

Take the wife out to dinner. That is the most mileage that you will get with that $50. If she associates a new addition to the safe with a nice night out, you will never have an issues on the shooting front. My GF has started to encourage me to buy more guns... Of course, the Python got her a night at the opera, so a dinner sounds like you get off light.

I'd say my electric bill is on average around $50.00 a month, I am somewhat anal about the use of electricity and virtually all of the systems in the home, heat, cooking, hot water are fueled by natural gas.
