Need a GOOD load for a Ruger 77/44 ~ ~ ~ ~ Please

We tried 20.5 of the 2400 with a Hornady FTX 225 Grain, it was bad.
Also tried a 240 Grain JHP with 19.0 grains of 2400, still stunk.
Looking into trying some H110....
Anybody got some suggestions?

Just some info from Hornady's 8th edition manual in case you haven't seen it: It says it's "critical" that 44 mag cases be trimmed to 1.255" when loading the 225 FTX bullet. Their data lists 14.8 grains as maximum with 2400 powder and the 225 FTX in the rifle section. If you try Win 296 or H110 the max is 21.3 with 296 and 20.6 with H110 in the rifle section. Again, you need to trim cases to 1.255" loading the FTX 225 grain Hornady. Overall length with the 225 FTX was 1.645". Hornady used WLP primers and Hornady cases in their tests. Disregard if this is old news to ya.

A good load for Win 296 and 240 gr HP bullets, especially 240 Hornady XTP's is 23-24 grains. I shoot 23 grains in various cases using CCI 350 mag primers and it's accurate in both pistol and rifle. Don't reduce Win 296 or H110 and I wouldn't go below 22 grains of either when shooting 240 gr bullets. Verify from published manuals. Be safe.

As said BEFORE....

23.5gr. to 24.0gr. of H-110 under a Horndy 240gr. XTP, with a FIRM roll crimp, will fill the bill. It seems that I have already said that once tonight???HA HA...Bill..

I have a new 44mag handi rifle and it would not group worth a flip with 225g Hornady FTX bullets in either factory loads or reloads. I bought a box of 265g FTX and used 2400powder (16.5 to 17.1g) to get groups of 1 to 1 1/8 inch at 50 yds with my rifle.My rifle has microgroove rifling and seems to be a little oversize in the bore.

I think the .430- 265g Hornady interlock Flat point would work well in my rifle but i haven't tried them yet--they are much less expensive than the FTX bullets.
