What should I pay for a good example and any reccomendations as to where to buy (gun show?) I would like to trade my refinished nickle Victory + Cash for a Masterpiece.

Depends on the condition and the year of manufacture. Post 1980s examples are fairly inexpensive, and still pretty darn good.

When I'm curious about the going price for a specific firearm, I check the following:

www.gunsamerica.com
Remember these are asking prices. I sometimes see the same tired old guns there week after week.
Your situation is more difficult because you want to trade in your Victory. Now you have to find someone with a Masterpiece for sale who also wants your Victory. You may be able to find this combination at a gun show, but the guy with the Masterpiece will have to get your Victory cheap enough to be sure he covers what he would have made by selling the Masterpiece outright. You might find a gun store that will take your Victory on consignment, or try selling it on gunsameria. You will get a better deal if you can pay cash for the Masterpiece.

A five screw K-38 Combat Masterpiece in 98%+ condition will likely be priced around $400. A three screw Model 15 Combat Masterpiece will likely be priced around $300 in the same condition.
A nickel plated Victory might bring about $100 in trade if the stars are aligned.
