Need advice on installing HK USP ambi safety

hi guys can any of you tell me how to remove a HK USP safety in order to install a ambidextrous one? I would greatly appreciate the knowledge thanks, and happy hunting.

Now that I've gotten around to looking everything up again, I may finally do the ambi control swap in my USP.

Cal's Sporting Armory seems to have decent prices on the parts.

Follow the links, it is very easy. Once the pistol is field stripped, use a small punch to press down on the tip of the piece of metal that retains the safety lever. It can be accessed by pushing the punch down the small opening to the left of the ejector. As you hold the retention plate down, pull the safety lever out.

Remember, the safety lever acts as an allignment pin for much of the FCG. Putting the new one in, means having everything lined up.

While you have it out, you might as well follow the instructions in the link and take it all the way apart for a good cleaning.

Just don't misplace any pins or the small trigger reset spring.

BTW...

From whom is the ambi safety available? Is this strictly a manufacturer supplied part or can it be had elsewhere?
