The gun is a model 84. It works just fine in single action but when you work it double action the cylinder does not line up right. I have it taken apart and I see no signs of excessive wear or someone screwing around with any of the parts. I'm pretty sure it is the hand but its always a good idea to get a second and third opinion. Is there anything else that could be the problem?

Anybody know were to go for a parts source? Numrich doesn't have very many of the parts in stock.

It may be the hand spring, not the hand. The hand spring on that gun is a small mousetrap spring inside the trigger, bearing on the front pin in the hand. I suspect it may not be broken, but just jumped off the hand, which can happen if the hand is removed or moved too far back when the trigger is out of the gun.

Thanks. I will check that out.

When the side plate is off the gun works just fine, but when I put the slide plate back on and tighten the screws it goes back to the way it was. I think the stop is not going up fast enough on double action and the notch in the cylinder is already past were the stop would catch it by the time it goes up.

Could this be whats causing the problem?

If so would it be ok to polish the side of the stop were it contacts the side plate to reduce friction?

Probably also a good idea to replace the stop spring too.

Fixed it. did as I said above and stretch the stop spring a little and it works.
