I have a K-frame with a square butt, will a set of grips for a Taurus 66 ect. fit if it is also a square butt? Do Taurus and S&W grips ever ineterchange?

No. I ran across this years ago both makers use a cross-pin through the frame in addition to the grip screw to keep the grips from moving. The Smith cross-pin is in a different place than the Taurus. If you have wood grips, then you can just match up with the correct drill bit and put another hole in the frame face of each grip panel. I wouldn't do this with rubber grips. Also, I doubt if comparable size frames have the same gripframe between the two manufacturers (alot on these guns are similar, but enough is different to require specifically made parts).

Darn it! There is a set of Hogue wood grips for the Taurus med frame revolvers that is selling cheap on E-Bay. If they would have fit, I could have a nice set of grips for my S&W 19 square butt K-frame. I have Hogues on my Ruger Speed Six and I love them.

There was a thread on the "Firing Line" site where someone put Taurus grips on a Smith & Wesson, or the other way around. I don't remember the details but maybe you should go look.

Firestar, like SouthpawShootr says you can fiddle around with the two piece wooden ones and make them fit. But the one piece (glued) Houge design are are no-go. The S&W J frame and the newer small frame Taurus are very very close. Not good enough for my CTC laser grips but my wood grips can be "pounded" into place.
