I just test loaded a batch of Berry's plated 200gr. SWC using 4gr. of clays with 1.225 oal at 25yd. and accuracy was terrible. First I thought it was me, so I tried my other proven load in 230gr. fmj and it was dead on until the coffee kicked in.:( Will accuracy improve if I shorten the oal or reduce the charge? Any suggestion appreciated.

I load mine with Winchester 231 and they will cut the same hole at 15 yards all day long, and at 25 yards stay within about 3", but most of that spread is due to my aging old eyes.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I go through 6000+ per year at the 25 yard line using 3.8g of Clays over a 200g LSWC.

I find it to be an accurate combo out of 3 different 1911's, a Sig P220 and a S&W625 revolver.

If yours are an H&G #68 200g wadcutter (see photo), the bullet's shoulder should be just above the edge of the case after installation. A thirty-second of an inch works.

i had similar results with berry bullets. i shortened to the minimum oal and had much, much better accuracy

I found the best accuracy results with the minimum OAL and starting charge. I use Clays.
