It is SN# 66xxx and has the gov marking to indicate it was a military pistol. How old is it? How can I tell what branch of service it was adopted by?

All numbers match except the mag. It has been finished in a black coating similar to paint. I am not sure what it is but it is not a dull park finish. Is that a finish that they came in? The markings under the finish look really crisp so I don't think it was buffed and refinished. It seems like it was a clean gun so I am wondering why they would paint it black unless it was a factory finish.

These were originally blued. Tell us any markings and we can translate. Marina means Navy. You may also have a police gun.

Here's a link to check for date of manufacture by serial number, yours was made in 1951:

The finish on your pistol was probably applied when the gun was reworked prior to import. What does the pistol say on the slide. If it was military, it should be marked with whatever branch it was issued to. If none, yours was probably a police issue.

On the left side it says "D. G. F. M. - (F. M. A. P.)

On the right side it says "ejercito argentino Sist. COLT cal. 11.25mm mod 1927"

There is a crest to the left of the writing. It is a couple of branches with an oval in the middle.

Cool, thanks for that info. Do you know if that makes it rare or common or what? I have heard of air force and Navy versions and some seller's demand top dollar for them.

As had been said...shoot it.

The only things I did to mine were replace all the springs and pins and it has never failed to work in over 1,000 rounds.

No MIM, castings, plastic and such. Just a pistol manufactured as per the original intent and works as such.
