Hey y'all,
I was all set to sight-in my VZ-24 with a pistol scope on an Aimsports mount where the ladder sight used to be.

I cannot adjust to bring the shot group left enogh to be zeroed (elevation is fine). I simply cannot bring the 'L' adjustment in far enough, it's just run out and the adjustment clicker can turn to further.

Any help is appreciated!

How far off set were the iron sights?

If they were centered you base, rings, or scope is crooked.

OK, iron sights were on with windage, how do I determine what is off? What are bullet levels, and how do I affect the windage line-up with them? Thanks!

Use a straight edge along the scope base. It should run parallel with the bore. If that's ok, try turning the rings backwards and see if the POI shifts over to the other side.

If the base and the rings check out the problem has to be the scope.

What scope are you using?

And those windage adjustable rings will bind the scope mechanism and ruin the scope if much adjustment is applied. If you go with windage adjustable bases, do yourself a favor and use Burris Signature rings in conjuction with them. They will not torque a scope tube when you use the windage in the base.

If you are sure that the rings are installed correctly, then you will need to look at the Aim sport mount sitting in the original sight base to see if there is any gaps on one side or the other that will indicate an alignment problem. It can be from an improperly drilled pin hole in the mount or possibly the sight base itself.
It's possible to drill and tap the sight base further back from the mounting pin, for set screws that will allow centering and securing the Aim sport mount in the sight base. That would of course alter the sight base from original which you may not want to do.

This is all based on the scope being good, and not the problem.

If you're sure that the bases are mounted securely and everything else is setup correctly, get windage adjustable mounts such as the millets mentioned earlier. I had a mauser D&T'd and with the scope centered it was hitting 6-feet to the left at 100 yards. :cuss: That's a little over a degree off. The problem is that I didn't check it until almost a year later and by that time the smith had retired. Another year or so later, I found the millets and it made the gun useable again.
