I am looking at buying one of these. It is $289.00 new. Comes with two hi-caps. What I have read is these are really good guns. Anyone that has one I would appreciate input. And any oter advice would be welcomed.
I plan to carry as a truck gun, livingroom gun and occasional carry.

I have one in 40 s&w and use it for home protection. I had a couple of failures to feed early on which concerned me, however I've put a many a round thru it since then without any issues. I did some simple trigger work to mine and it helped a lot. I think the gun will serve you well...

It is a lot nicer gun than the Sigma that it replaced. It is not as nice as an M&P, but at the price point it has a lot going for it.

I like mine. No issues in about 2000 rounds. Darn good buy at $289. I would recommend it.

I watched Hickok45s video. Hell of a man, hell of a shooter. I just am looking for fellow shooters input on this weapon.

For that price I'd pick one up with no hesitation, but then I owned and loved the dreaded SW40F that everyone loves to hate.

I have owned a few Sigmas and found them to be very good buys. The newer S.D. series is even better! I have a S.D. 9 and find it to be one of the best buys on the market today! Made in the USA, by a good company with good C.S.! I have had no problems with any of these pistols &find them to be accurate &reliable. I did replace the sights with Tru -Glo nite sights &would recommend that mod.to the pistol. It was less than $90.00. I have no problem with the trigger. If you shoot D.A. revolvers, you should have no problems. If the trigger is a problem you can replace the springs or send it back to S&W. I have seen alot of pistols on the market for about the same price. But they are eather used or made in another country. There is nothing wrong with that, but now days I prefer to keep that money here in the U.S. keeping Americans working. And you get a new S&W! You just can't beat that!

I have the SD40VE and could not carry it for a long time. The mag rattle made it sound like I had my son's rattle strapped to my back. I finally fixed the issue by replacing the stock follower and spring with the guts from a G22 mag.

I bought one for my mother, it is a heck of a gun for the $329 we paid. For $289? Buy it now! It's reliable, accurate, the trigger is good enough and it is just a practical, comfortable, and easy to use defensive handgun. You can't do better for the price.

I have a 40 version and its a good solid pistol and if you want or need a better trigger and kit from apex can help there and do it at home cheaply. Buy away.

Great value. Mine is more accurate than my g19. Side by side with same ammo. Lifetime warranty vs 1 yr for the glock. If you get a gritty trigger, send it in. You will love it. Yes you will here from haters about how it it is a pos but that simply isnt true in my experience. The mags are more expensive and are slightly louder on ejection than the glocks plastic mags. However, if you just emptied a mag, nobody will hear the ejection. Buy it and Support american workers.

I agree Krupparms! I still own an SW40VE and it has been an excellent pistol for me. No problems at all---no failure to feeds, no trigger issues----very dependable. The SD series is a newer version of the Sigma Series, and from what I understand has a different trigger design which caused some with the Sigma Series some problems. In my opinion, this is a great buy for the OP. :)

The trigger has to have been the worst you could pull. That was two years ago. By the time the trigger pulled over, you had to be on target FFFFFFFOREVER! I hear that with a trigger job, relatively inexpensively, it was a decent gun. That's my experience. If you wanted it to shoot at silhouette targets at ten feet, yeah, great gun.

Definitely not the worst trigger and with practice you could get back on target, sir. Have you shot one or did you just "hear" about the gun? 2 years ago the SD9VE was not available.

with 5# trigger kit

If I am not mistaken, the SD9 and SD40 is the newer updated version of the SW9VE and SW40VE. Both were pretty good pistols with different opinions on their performance.

I guess it is up to the individual and their experience and expertise. I don't have a problem at all with the trigger of my SW40VE and I can put ALL 15 rounds in the body area of a silouette at a range of 25 yards---not to brag, just to state a fact and clarify that if you practice and have the desire, you can become quite proficient with your pistol. We all have different opinions and experiences. Mine is that it is an EXCELLENT pistol. It is both reliable and accurate. Just my humble opinion based on my experience... :)

So yes...first there was the S&W Sigma 9VE, out for years and derided due to its "stiff" trigger. The then S&W9 came out with some sigma looks and some extras like a tritium front site and a better trigger, but this was too pricey and not selling as well as hoped. Now the SD9 is the current VE (value enhanced) pistol. Takes some things from the MP and the Sigma as well, so I've heard. I have one in 9mm (available in .40 as well) and it is a winner...btw I love the trigger.
