I would like to start some plinking with cheap 22LR but I don't care too much for the Ruger MkII or Buckmaster type pistol. So I thought I might convert one of my pistols to 22LR: Colt Series 80 Commander or CZ 75BD. I know there are conversions for them but not sure which is best. Heard some "not so great things" about the CZ Kadet conversions like FTE problems and some stuff about bad firing pins. Haven't really heard anything about 1911 conversions. What do you guys recommend?

I have the Ciener kit for my Beretta 92fs and one for my AR-15. They have been ultra reliable with no problems except sometimes the slide on the Beretta 92 kit has trouble closeing when it gets really dirty. I wanted to see how much dirt it would take before it started to have problems. I got it used and it was dirty so I really don't have an exact number. I have put 200-300 through it since I cleaned it and it is still 100%. The AR-15 kit has not jammed on me and I have put at least 500rds through it since new. I am impressed by the Ciener kits because they do work and they are decently accurate. They are not going to be as accurate as a Ruger MKII but they are fine for plinking or informal target shooting.
